Well, the computer has been running very slowly, and I've tried about everything else and the only program I've had any problems with has been IE8. I've stopped using IE8 and have been using FireFox, but in my infinite wisdom I decided to try to get rid of IE8 on this computer since I've been using it until the other one is running properly. Only it wasn't real bright to mess with the only computer that was running fairly well. Lesson learned! I tried reinstalling IE8 and got a message that said it didn't load properly. I even tried to uninstall it again, but still got the same error message.

Here is the listing from whocrashed. I see that it refers to avast antivirus. When I initially tried to install my new IE* I believe that I had disabled Avast for 10 minutes. But I admit that I have forgotten to disingage it in all of my other actions. I will send this and perhaps I will have time to use your routine above to try uninstalling ie8 again with avast disabled and get back again. If I had any sense, I would have tried system restore. I haven't really done that much with this computer and it likely would have done the trick in the first place. I would immediately be removing all those darn toolbars most can be done through add remove programs. I hate it when there are so many you can barely have enough real estate for viewing a webpage. But you sure can go back to IE7 just make sure you continue to get all your critical windows updates for IE7. also if you do choose to keep it you can change the address bar back to how it was in earlier versions of IE I have posted that tip here on a few threads but if you can not find it just either ask or google make IE8 look like Ie7 or IE6 there are a lot of things you can change to make it look more familiar, changing the look to the classic menu will be one easy change.

Well, I just talked to the rep and asked if this was her decision or someone up the chain. "Er, well, it's what Kolbe decides. We're kind of just the middle man." I explained to her why this was not any problem of ours and was far removed from anything resembling good customer service, in light of the fact that we've already paid in full for what we don't yet have, we have to rehire people to reinstall the replacement at our cost and we have to put off finishing that part of the house until the window is here in 3 or 4 more weeks. I suggested when they deliver the new frame, their guy waits for the old frame or maybe puts it in for us and they can then charge Kolbe for their trouble. She said she understood and maybe if I could "sign something" saying we'll return the old frame it would be okay. Do they think we're going to split town with a defective frame or something? Jeepers. I asked to talk to her boss who said this was the first he'd heard of it and would let me know what he found out. I told him that whatever he 'found out', the answer from us was the same. Not paying for anything further. I think I may look for another Kolbe dealer.
