Does it come with Windows XP operating system and the power adaptor?

Keep in mind maybe that the 'Wireless LAN antenna' usually meant that you can add in a $100 mini wifi nic. Most people would probably use a usb wifi adapter for $20 .. or more local dollars.
And a replacement battery is probably the $100 area.

You need to see it run. As laptops age the lamps in the screen gradually get dim.

I didn't like the looks of it.Neither did she. My grandaughter. So.We will go buy a new one.Just thought I would save money.But I guess it really isn't saving in the long run.Thanks for all your help

if you were looking on craigslist don't give up hope because there are definitely some good ones out there, I have been lucky and got great deals, you definitely want to be able to try them out and make sure they run properly and that the copy of windows on them is legit, try going to windows update site with it and have it scan the pc to see if it has any problems, if it is not a legit copy you may find out by doing the windows updates trial.
I also always go to belarc.com and let it run on the pc and then view the info it gives about the pc to make sure what they are telling you is really what is in that pc.
I also go to the event viewer and look for red flags and to device manager and look for yellow flags.

If you are limited to around $500 dollars, make sure your granddaughter knows, it will not be capable of any high power games. I dont know how old she is or if this is even a factor but the $500 dollar laptops are basic wordprocessing, browsing, email types, not high performance.

She is Honor Roll.Has been her whole life.She does not game at all.She 16, going 40. Books and school are her life.She will be a Senior next year. I bought her one but don't think it is as good as she needs.She probably knows more about it than I do.But planned on surprising her.I guess she should pick what she wants.I can afford.Just would rather spend less.If I can.

There may even be an opportunity to buy thru the school at discounts. Have you checked into that.
If possible, your granddaughter should be in the planning to buy stage if possible. She would probably know exactly what her school requirements are and can base a purchase on that.
If not, you may have a bigger suprise after you purchase it and find out it does meet the prerequisites

It seems that the $150 price is too good to be true. Since your daughter is a student, i suggest that she also try checking her school's discount program. Some colleges, universities, and high schools offer this program to employees and students. Maybe she'll get better specs at a fair price.
