Error Message

I have had to reinstall all my programs after a mysterious crash a couple of weeks ago. After a complete format and reinstall of XP, my Local Disk is now "L" instead of "C" and several of my programs get the following error when I try to start them. If I click on cancel several times they will usually load up, but it is quite annoying. Any suggestions?

Change the drive letter assignment on the drive first back to "c" See link.

Windows thinks "L" is removable media as in flash drive or something it never sees the drive an flags an error No Disk.

Already tried that. It won't change the drive letter of the system volume or boot volume. Also, all the programs I have reinstalled have been installed to the L drive by default. Most of them automatically install to the system volume.

Hey Roc, I'm still using Miele Tabs--figured "if it aint broke, why fix it...?" I cut mine in half using Wusthoff kitchen shears--they slice through the tabs (and their wrappers) like the proverbial butter. LOL I cut a handful or so at once, and store the cut halves in a small deli container. If I'm running a particularly full/dirty load, I'll sometimes use two halves, or use one "large" half and add some of the powder that has collected at the bottom of the container to the dispenser. The last time I ordered the tabs, I got a great online deal on them, so got 2 or 3 pkgs. They last a long time since I cut the tabs in half and run the DW 4-5 days/wk on avg.

If you add cover panels, the message is still there. However, if you add the piece called "filler base" between the cabinets and the range on either side, the error message will go away. The "filler pieces and panels" options are in the cabinet menu, below countertops. The error message appears when there are no upper cabinets in the plan at all, so it is not related to uppers. The clerk should not dismiss this question, I would want a good clear answer on something that is defined as a safety feature.

Just goes to show that the bigger the organization is the worse the customer care. I am very angry that the real problem was not addressed when I was talking with AT&T. I tried to find an email address to voice my opinion and there isn't one to be found at AT&T's website and the maze you have to go through on the phone is ridiculous. If I hadn't thought of Googling the problem by including the search term "Yahoo" I would still be in the dark about it. And not a word has been issued on the news about the problem and there had to be millions affected by it.

It seems the drive with the operating system cannot be changed. Your best bet sadly is to wipe the drive and start over. My computer did that and I never paid attention for a while. Then I could not load a few programs including my MS webcam, nothing I tried worked so in the end I wiped and re-installed. Pain in the posterior but as you are barely 2 weeks into this install it should not be quite so bad.

Sorry about not following up on this. Rechecked disk management and found that one of the removable disks was marked as "C" drive. I simply changed that disk to "O" drive and the problem seems to be solved. The only thing I've had problems with since then is an old program that insists on installing to "C" drive. I've had to forget about a couple of older games I used to play, but no big deal.
