We only have gutters where the water would drip on your head as you go in and out, or where there is sidewalk (and hence roofwater on the head) or flower beds that would splash mud everywhere. Otherwise, it just comes off the roof and drops to the ground/grass. I think the main issue with gutters is keeping water from heavy rains from pounding on the ground, eroding a low spot that keeps the water near the house where it could cause settling of your foundation even without a basement, and splashing back on the siding where it could potentially find a way underneath. If you had a good slope away from the house and good grass cover to prevent erosion and splashing on the house, gutters may not give you much benefit except over doors and sidewalks. Then again, I'm in a dry climate and if we get 2 or 3 inches of rain over a several week period, we find all kinds of interesting problems from the excessive wetness--not from lack of gutters, but just from generally excessive moisture.

Thank you for the quick reply! :o) I was pretty sure I got all the bits of belt out of the pulleys, but it would be worth checking again. Although I have only used this mower maybe twice prior to this summer, the engine speed currently is what I recall the mower moving at were you to shove the self propel handle all the way in. It isn't going excessively fast were one to be pushing it that hard, but it is taking off at that speed right away without pushing on the self propel part of the handle.

Ok, a more serious response from me. I think anything that is more rare or more specialized means that yes, the potential for problem is greater. Some examples: that amazing fancy huge geode slice that you're using for a counter is something that your average fabricator is unfamiliar with (and it's something that even the $$$ specialized fabricator sees infrequently), your highend high BTU range requires a different gas set up and a dedicated outlet (despite the fact that the only electrical parts are the light and fan) and your GC has installed a zillion ranges, doesn't need to know this info, disregards the instructions and the gas line is in the wrong place; your european faucet renders your home warranty guarantee on water pressure void because it uses non-standard fittings, etc. Most of these have actually happened to me (no, I don't have a geode countertop!) so I do think that the non-run of the mill items that we choose (which can tend to be expensive and rare) can cause more headaches. People just tend to have less experience with these materials and sometimes these rarer and more expensive items are such because of their difficulty to install, come by, etc. I think ways to counteract these possible pitfalls are to be as knowledgeable as possible by reading and researching, to be on top of your contractors and choose them based on their reputation checking references and using yelp, angie's list, etc. (esp. if acting as your own GC), to communicate that you want to be involved in decision making, to make sure you understand your contracts and to have money set aside for when such issues arise. (And maybe also realize that there will be compromises, that your favorite item might be discontinued, that people are human and make mistakes and that your newly sprouted gray hairs make you look more distinguished!) Basically though, these things take up memory, and if you're short on memory it can slow things down. So if you don't need them to be running all the time, disable them. If you don't need them at all, uninstall the program itself. A lot of programs will start them up when the programs starts anyway, so they don't need to be running all the time. But some programs (like OneNote) do need to have them running, all the time. Here's my annotated response.
