I'm reposting this because I lost my original sticky by replying to my own post (DOH!). Any help is appreciated......if it doesn't get addressed in a week or so I'll bump it down.

I'm mostly looking for suggestions on sequence. This is a calendar exported from MS Project in Excel format. The template comes from Bid4build updated and edited to conform to our own build. It would seem there are a few things out of place. For instance, our plumber wants to be in a week before the other rough-ins for first dibs at locating pipe. Also, it would seem to me all flooring comes before interior trim is completed (at least baseboards and quarter rounds). Anyway, looking for suggestions in regards to our calendar. Sitting on our hands until the county and our soils consultant get on the same page with our drain field so I figure we might as well err on the side of caution and be as prepared as possible.

    Why do you think that it is out of place for the plumbers to do their work before the electricians? That is the way it is done here. In fact, it is almost a joke in the building industry that the electricians are left to work miracles in the small spaces that are left once the other trades finish their rough-ins.

    Also, the other timeline question re: trim and flooring. We like the looks of the quarter round toe molding, so our interior trim (all of it) will be installed before our hardwood flooring. I would think that you could do this in any order that you'd prefer, although, in my area the trim is always installed first. They just leave the half-inch gap (or however much they need based on your flooring selections and sizes) for the wood to slide under...they do not trap the moldings behind the hardwood. In our case, we are using pre-finished hardwood floors...I want them to be pretty much the last thing installed. So, all of the trim, painting, cabinetry, tile will be put in first.

    I thought the timeline looked pretty good. How big is your house that you are planning 3 entire months for drywall/painting/trim? That seems like a long time. Our house is about 4500 sq ft with a lot of mouldings/casings/cathedral ceilings/etc, and our contractor said to expect no more than about 4-5 weeks for this...I'm taking that to mean about 8 weeks!

    Good luck with the project. It can be extraordinarily frustrating and exhausting, but it provides such a sense of accomplishment at the end! (or at least that is my hope...)

    Thanks Dixie. I agree that Plumbing comes first. I'm bumping the HVAC/Mechanical back behind the plumbing to make sure the plumber has ample room for various vents, pitches etc. Ultimately I'd like to have all three working the same time but guessing it might get a little crowded. Our plan is 3094 sq ft so we'll take a look back at the drywall and paint durations to see if I can trim off a bit here. Thanks for the info. Any more input here?

    Amazon's internet server/hosting service business is a major player and is used by a lot of companies. A portion of the service went down on Wednesday and remained down for awhile. I received an email from Shutterfly late last night saying "We're back" and "you may have experienced connection issues.....". I take from that that Shutterfly uses Amazon's service, that it was affected by the problem, but that it is now resolved. I trust you will be able to use Shutterfly now, or soon.

    One good thing about my Dalí calendar is that the only place the year show is on the cover of the calendar - it is not repeated on the month displays. It does show the names of the month and days of the week in English, French, and German (which is not necessary for me), and I'm okay with that, even though it takes up extra space. I've been reusing calendars since 1990, and I started doing it because I had collected a few that I especially liked. I never wrote anything on the art or photo calendars. It did save me a bit of money during some lean years as well. In 1990, spending $20 on a calendar seemed like a significant investment to me for some reason. Anyway, I'm glad I've kept the calendars that I did, and they really take up very little space when stored on a bookshelf, as I have them now.

    Thank you for the info - I took a peek at it, and it was interesting. I got the impression that her "substack" (no idea what that means) is mainly about gardening design, so not really up my alley - I let my plants do what they want, and it does amazingly result in an overall lovely look, but I don't spend any time worrying about designing anything - more of a collector.     If anyone could steer me to an existing thread our link on this I would appreciate it. I think we're pretty close on most things I could use some help on sequencing the rough-ins and some of the finish work. I've searched under various keywords and couldn't find what I need.

    Thanks Lindy. I was actually looking for a thread that may have already been discussed scheduling earlier on by someone else. I've done various searches for "sequence" and "calendar" and "schedule" but I didn't find a lot of previous discussion around this topic. While I'm sure it varies (especially in the trim stages) I was hoping a few folks would either justify that I'm in the ballpark or make some suggestions otherwise.
