When you uninstalled Norton, did you uninstall it by using the Norton website uninstall utility that supposedly gets everything...if not, there could be residual Norton material left on the laptop...actually, rather than AVG, I would suggest Avast free, less problems, smaller utility and works better than AVG

I guess I would prepare a place for it. Be all set before digging it out. Check you sun/shade time lengths for now, in the heat of summer, to know if plant will be happy. My mom has her tree peony in full sun. Blooms well, grows large. However all other sources say tree Peony prefers part sun and shade. My full sun tree Peonies have not bloomed. I moved two tree Peonies last August. I had the time, garden was ready. It was very hot, sunny, humid then. One plant was smaller, did OK, stayed green until frost. The other plant was larger, got damaged even though I was being careful digging it out. It was not happy, wilted badly, lost leaves before fall cold. I did water regularly to get all the plants established, had good fall rains, late winter cold gave plants a long time to establish roots in unfrozen dirt. I also put rose collars filled with sawdust around tree Peony stubs after ground froze, to protect from our winter wind. We had a LOT of rabbits nibbling on everything last winter. Rose collar could have protected them from rabbits as well. Other tree Peony plants have my dogs in the yard to keep them safe. Both plants came back well, lots of foliage and the larger one bloomed! I was really suprised to see the plant grow, let alone flower! I thought I had killed it when leaves fell off in fall, figured transfers would just be a 50% survival rate! I would move it after Aug. heat, early Sept., be attentive with watering this fall until ground freezes. If you could give plant some wind protection, just this first year, I think it helps prevent drying out. Get your graft down in the ground, to allow new growth to come from stick above the graft.

Yes, A__ has ADHD. He's coming up on 11yo now, and he is MUCH better at coping with his ADHD and his emotions than he was at 8. I credit this to several key causes: 1) He is older and wiser. 2) We have worked on tooshies off with him to provide him with coping techniques. 3) Less time with GM and more time with BM (who has stepped up a lot in the last year - in part due to her fiance. I still disagree with many of her parenting choices, but she's 50-fold improved) Even on days where ADHD isn't getting the better of A__, he still sometimes looks for negative attention. When that happens, we try to remove ALL attention until he is ready to receive positive attention. And we frame it just like that to him: "A__, you seem to be looking for attention right now; but I think you are looking for bad attention. Please come back when you are ready for good attention." "A__, that was not a very nice thing to say. You can go to your room until you are ready to apologize and be nice. Then we will continue with ___what_we_were_doing__." "A__, I realize that you are angry, and that's OK. But until you can deal with your anger in a nice way, I don't want to be around you. When you are ready to talk about what is bothering you, please come back and we can figure this out." Do you think your DH would be able to switch to an approach like that? Unless it is a "major offense," A__ doesn't usually get an additional consequence after we have started fresh. We've found that this is eliciting better behavior from him that when we tried stricter consequences for the same behaviors. For example: A few weeks ago, A__ had a minor mouth-off to me when asked to put on his coat to play outside. He was informed that he could go out when he was ready to apologize for his smart-mouth and wear his coat. Five minutes later he came out of his sulk and said "Ceph, I'm sorry for being rude and I would like to play outside and I will wear my coat." So off he went and all was well. But later that day, when we were headed to the hockey game and discovered he had shoved hunks of cinder blocks under the tires of the car, but shouted that he "didn't give a crap" when we said this was a problem... Well, we still had hockey tickets we had paid for, so we decided he wouldn't get to roam and wander at the game (he loves to roam the arena), no snacks or treats at the game, and straight to bed when we got home. He apologized partway through the game. We accepted his apology, and the next morning, we just started from scratch with a new day.

You seem to know what you want to do with the fur coat. As long as you're comfortable with how you're using it, that is all it matters. As for myself, I feel creepy wearing real fur. I'm not comfortable wearing one at all. However, I am fine wearing certain type of leather such as cow or sheep leather. At an earlier post, someone posted that's all in the food chain. I disagree, we eat beef, pork, chicken, lamb, etc. but we normally don't eat beaver, chinchilla, etc.. So, if it's snake skin, leopard leather, etc.., those too I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it. That's just me though.

Makes me wonder how long Norton has been expired and the computer exposed to the Internet without an Anti Virus? We need to ask if it's a 64Bit version too, is it? You're probably going to want to use the Norton Removal tool to make sure all of Norton is removed!!! Let the windows up-date finish first, then let defender run. Run the Norton Removal tool. Then proceed with AVG. If you still have issues with AVG let us know you may need to run the AVG removal tool if it installed partly, the tool you use will depend on 64Bit or 32Bit, that's why we need to know that information. To find out if it's 32Bit or 64Bit. Click start>Programs>Right click on Computer choose Properties in there you system information will be presented. Final run a Malwarebytes scan since it's possible the computer ran without protection when Norton expired.

I agree I would NOT go with AVG instead if you want a free AV go with MSE or AVAST free.

be sure to add malwarebytes and run a full scan asap since the AV had expired. Save malwarebytes, update it and run it weekly.

Thanks everyone. I have spent most of the afternoon doing the 75 updates, not finished yet. I removed the AVG download and am trying to download the free Avast. I will use the link for AppRemover as you suggest Raven since I did not go to Norton for the removal I just did the uninstall. Yes, I was planning on adding the Malwarebytes as soon as I get the rest done.

you will need to do the full norton removal before trying to do the AVAST install so just download it, do the uninstall of norton, then go with the AVASt install.

Oops, I just did the Avast and the Malwarebytes! Should I still do it. They both installed just fine.

yes because Norton definitely leaves stuff behind. Just go ahead and follow the directions on app remover for Norton and see if will do it.

Raven, I installed the Appremover; it did the scan and found the Malwarebytes and Avast and that is all. Then I did the other option to clean up of remnants and it didn't find anything. So I should be okay then? Also, do I need to use this tool to remove AVG on my other machines or can I just uninstall them and then install Avast. Also, do you know why this laptop which is Windows 7 says it has Windows Defender that needs to run a scan? I thought Windows Defender was a Vista thing.

Go ahead and use the App remover for AVG. Defender runs on both Win 7 and Vista for Spyware protection.

Avast version 6.0.1000 now has an autoSandbox feature. Check it out. You can probably Google Avast Sand Box and read about it.

By now you have run the scans, removed the vestiges of Norton. I think the only thing you need is Windows Security Essential. (That is just my opinion.) I have had it on my W7 PC for 1 yr. now, it runs seamlessly in the background. I do have Malwarbytes' Anti- Malware, which I run every so often, just in case some gremlin is lurking that MSE didn't catch. So far, Malwarbytes' has found nothing!

If OP has Avast installed and running, she does not want MSE also, as that has an AV. Only one anti virus program running at a time.
