Question for Weissman, Eandhl and others re: DCS closed burners

We've recently installed a new 30" DCS LP range at our beach place. It's a lovely stove (great overall fit and finish, excellent oven and infrared broiler performance, very easy-to-clean rangetop) but I am struggling with the closed burners' wider flame pattern vs. my open-burner AG Wolf at home. I am finding that I use the two smaller burners on low setting for the majority of my stove-top cooking as the wide flame engulfs most of my small to medium saucepans, teakettle, etc. This to me negates the benefits of the high-power burners. Only when I'm boiling a large stockpot, stir-frying, or using a large skillet do I find myself turning up the burners above low setting! The manual says the flame should be concentrated UNDER the pan, not coming up around the sides. Tell me what I'm doing wrong - I feel like I'm underusing the capabilities/firepower of my new range. I know lots of you love your closed-burner ranges so I must be doing something wrong!
