Sorry, zep. I couldn't find anything that helped. One thing I saw was someone saying: I was able to disable scaling by setting layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1 instead of -1. you are welcome, I also did that update today on my firefox 2 and it went very smoothly with no errors, I think it was the last time I did the update that I saw the same error you mentioned. I know I do have a few older addons that are no longer updated and it might be that it tries to connect to those and it does not work, but I am just guessing LOL

third, for the legit programs you have, whether free or ones you've purchased, my advice to you is to accept updates anytime they're communicated and give it no further thought. I consider myself to be a PC user of intermediate knowledge. In in my experience, even with open source projects like Firefox, the true nature of updates is rarely fully disclosed and even it if were, you as an average user would be unable to understand the real story of what's going on and why. Trust the experts (the people who are managing the software you use) and take their advice. Accept all updates and move on.
