I did Duravit wall-mounted because when my bathroom was being done, Toto wall-mounted did not exist else that would have been my first choice. The toilet works fine. I got two-button flush actuator for less water and more water. However, I need more water to flush down toilet paper and end up never using the less-water button. Duravit has a loud flush, but it doesn't bother me.
Personally, I would have gone Toto had I had a choice, but a friend of mine really likes Duravit and did that in all her toilets.

I like the look of the Toto better. The Duravit looks kind of boxy.

Make sure you take care having your wall mount toilet installed and ask if your plumber or GC have done this before.

There was a bit of a learning curve for me and the crew on our first couple wall mount installs and now we have found our groove. Ask your builder to use double 2"x6"'s left and right of the wall carrier and make sure these studs are glued, spiked and nailed. We like to add in a solid blocking course at 1/3 span of of grade to further stiffen up these assemblies.

Check for deflection on your wall if this is going to get tile and if drywall is to be used try and center a full sheet onto the carrier rather than piecing pieces together and taping out the seams.

We have always used a Gerberit wall carrier for all our installs and I have never had a call back on one of my wall hung toilets. I installed my first over 3.5 years ago.

Yes Geberit makes the tank part. The bowl can be Toto or Duravit or ...

Grohe is another brand that could be considered for the tank.

Toto is supposed to also have their own tank part soon.

Today a friend of mine told me she had heard that the wall mounted toilets were very noisy. Anyone have experience with these and can let me know? Are there showrooms where they have working models of these toilets? Is there a decibel rating on toilets/tanks?

In the city we have two wall mounted toilets (Duravit) with the two button flush as well as Toto wall urinals in a powder room and the master bath. (It wasn't my idea for the urinals but I have to say it's quite convenient.)

The toilets are significantly quieter than the traditional apartment toilet but equal to the standard home flush -- and are very thorough. It's also SO easy to clean underneath. :)

The noisy wall hung must be the flush-o-meter type.

The Geberit company has a new model of toilet carrier that allows to be installed in a 2 inch by 4 inch wall.
This opens the doors for anyone to install one of these wall mounted toilets in their bathroom.

Duravit seems to offer some really nice wall mounted toilets, but I feel as the Laufen brand gets you more for your money. Have fun choosing.

If there is noise, it's because of the bowl not the carrier.

Thanks for all the great information! Is it better to get the dual flush? jph1 I noticed that the dual and single were the same price on the web site (but not the same mfg. list price). Because we will be doing a full remodel, down to the studs, I don't think we need the 2x4 tank model.
