you would only have MSE if you went and downloaded it and installed it, the program does NOT come with windows. You would need to totally remove AVG when and if you do get MSE, as stated use the removal tool which you can find here. Antivirus Product Removal Tools Keep malwarebytes if that is actually what you have, it is difficult to know when you do not use the actual names in your post. What does this line that you posted mean??? "the malware small window at the bottom of my screen" are you referring to malwarebytes? or is it some rogue malware??? Tell us exactly what it is you see and what it goes to. Names of security programs are extremely important because the people that want to infect your computer with bad stuff create the bad stuff and put names on it that are very similar to real programs and if we do not know which you have well we can't really help. And zep is right the mini is not really meant to be a main computer it is small in every way not just size, it has a very small processor and since yours runs windows 7 it takes a lot to run that and the little mini will struggle. but you do need to tell us exactly what is slow, is it surfing the web, is it booting up, is it opening programs on it????

Damccoy - I wish I knew but I'm 99% sure it's not an email - I'm super careful and don't open anything I don't recognize. But I'm leary of StumbleUpon, even though I like it. It just takes one creep to 'get you' and it's just too much roaming around the net. Also, I use FB and like it but again, unless you're pretty sure of your 'friends' you can get caught in that web. One thing I wondered about though besides the above~ I still can't open my Windows Mail and haven't given up on finding the original password, but that aside. Someone said why not just use FF so I was trying to update my bookmarks (favorites) and under a couple of folders were extensive sites - i.e. plants, orchids, politics, etc. Some were no longer there and opened instead on a different site or page. Though I didn't explore, you didn't know until you opened it that it wasn't what you thought you had saved. Hope that makes sense. That could have been an entry for a virus. If I find out anything else, I'll report back - count on it. Since they have moved away from the fire brick, the heaters retain less heat when shut off. The only heaters that need CPVC nipples in them are Jandy LJ/LD, and ASME versions.

Thanks, I went from commercial to AVG when I retired and turned in my company computer, in 2003. I was disappointed by something in AVG about 7 years ago and went to Avira Free. Yes, I have strange problems... the XP machine that brought me here this time was even having problems sending email from Thunderbird...it downloaded okay but time out on send. In parallel tonight I switched back to DSL from my trial of Comcast Cable (don't see any real improvement due to speed) and I tried Thunderbird over DSL and the message went right out. I will Call Comcast tonight and drop my cable access. I'm too much in bed with the DSL email service to want to change my address. I may migrate of a few months and may drop the telephone all together. Changes in my life of late makes keeping the wireline phone doubtful. I also have an email account with att.com mail (now Yahoo) and that does not works with any access, like gmail etc.
