Fun Christmas Decorating in the Living Room!

We put up our tree this weekend ...which is always fun reminiscing about the ornaments ... just DH & I this yr but then we had a surprise visit from our son so he got roped into helping to... a great day!

Today I got the rest of my totes (way too many, 'Holiday-ers') unpacked & got another room done...the living room...here are some fun things ~~

My gr'ma's old treadle sewing machine...I learned to sew on it as a kid! Fun Santa & Elf time here ~~ everything is 'thrift' finds thru the yrs ... the Santa is my latest purchase... chalkware bank...made in Japan:

Here's another view ... the old window saved from my sis' farmhouse before it was torn down 10+ yrs ago:

Got Mr. & Mrs. Santa up under the tree ... oldies but goodies & still working:

...and here's our beautiful Frasier Fir pine tree we got @tree farm Sat ... small blue LED lights & a bit larger white LED lights ... I love it...can't see many ornaments but in the daylight you can!

...and some of my hubby's silly animated characters! (gifts from kids the past yrs):

...and it was nice enough to get my new (old) lath board star up @the porch garden bird feeder where hubby keeps the birds fed & I love to take their photos! If you look close you can see a female cardinal in the feeder. ;-)

Jeanne, as I've said previously, your home is the warmest and most welcoming place! And I love that most everything has such history and you share the stories with us.

Your blue tree is beautiful ! And you've been one busy little bee! :o)

Jeanne, inside and out, it's gorgeous! What a nwonderful
vignette on DGM's sewing table. Love the night shot with the pictures
above it.

Your blue Christmas tree is awesome. Mr & Mrs and others
so pretty out in front. I'm sure it is beautiful during the day
showing all the ornaments. Nice that you added DH's animated
characters from the past to share this season. I have some
things around our tree also.

What a cool outside display. Doesn't get much better than
this one.!!! You've been busy and I'm lovin' all of it. TFS

Jane, so glad you are giving your foot time to heal before your next surgery. It would be awful to not have at least one good one. I had foot surgery on my right foot 12 years ago and couldn't drive for 2 months. It was a year before I could do a full run and feel comfortable. I couldn't even ride a bike for a few months.LOL DD's BDay is Jan. 14th so that's what gets me out shopping after Christmas. It's always so cold but she's so special I have to! DGD's BDay is coming soon and she wants her party here again. May get to use some of my neat dishes again.Yeah DS came down today but didn't get to see DGD. We did alot of cleaning and yard work so that worked out good. Didnd't make it to the cemetary till late this afternoon because we were so busy. We will have all the family home over the 4th so have alot to do around here to get ready. I always tease my family they come and visit to keep me on top of things. Jeanne, the small star candle holders are from Dollar Plus. The lg center one is crystal and I picked up the other two at ys. Your the reason I always light my tables. Thanks for the comments on the flowers. They look better in RL but I didn't want to go take any more pictures. I need you here to help in that dept.haha I have a bush in one of my gardens that reminds me of your honeysuckle but it's blooms are pink. I'll have to take a picture and see if you know what it is one day. Luvs, always great to hear from you. Hope you are hanging in there and finding some time for you. Will keep you in my T & P. Great pic Jim, again, we both have some of the same saved pictures. The last 4 pics I have for sure from a photo spread from Traditional HOme if I remember correctly. the others look pretty darn familar too. I am anxiously awaiting the Christmas issue of Trad Home to come out this month....I sure hope they do something from Charles Faudree...

Well, I live single and I decorate every year. I think the trick is to make your own holiday traditions. For my part, I put up the tree on Thanksgiving Day as I watch the Macy's parade. I live in a tiny house, so I go the fake tree route, most live trees are too FAT for my floorspace. Anyway, I make myself mulled apple cider, grab the step ladder from the garage and get to work. By the time Santa appears on TV, the tree is up, lights on, ornaments and garland in place. Over the next week, I start pulling out and decorating the rest of the house. I do make real garland for my fireplace, I must have the fir-tree smell, but I get those cuttings for free from a local tree lot. I also have holly, rosemary and boxwoods growing in my yard to add to the tree cuttings. My one real splurge is real wreaths for my windows that I get from a local nursery. Candles in the window, a few knick-knacks out and presto! Instant Christmas. Being single can be a bit of a downer sometimes. So to keep myself in the spirit, I plug in the tree for at least an hour each night. Sometimes I splurge on a mug of cocoa. After the holidays, I repeat the cycle, except that I put the stuff up during the Rose Parade. Another thing that gets me into the holiday spirit is baking. Even though I don't have anyone to bake for, I make all kinds of cookies and take them to a nearby retirement/assisted living community. Of course some of the cookies never make it out of the house...heh!

We will need to be very creative with that budget. But it’s great you are thinking about it together now, because with a master plan you can add items as funds allow. We might want to keep your style to a “transitional” look and rely on accessories for punching up different looks. I would start with sofa, rug and one or two chairs plus a sofa table and arc lamp for living room. What do you need for bedroom? Dining room?

Jeanne...I ALWAYS enjoy seeing your home decorated
anytime...and at Christmas...it's just extra lovely. I've come to enjoy seeing your 'oldies but goodies' decorations ..and yes the way you decorate both inside
and out...it's all so warm and welcoming.
Love that new/old lath star by the bird feeder..what a nice accent piece.

Thanks, Holiday-ers! I added a birds' nest today to the bottom of the vine wreath on the lath star...hubby made me the lath star. It sure is a fun time of the year...I hope to get some more decorating done & share some pics of the porch...not started out there yet...but the totes are unloaded.

I guess I do decorate with 'old' goodies, uh. The lil' eleves in the set of 3 wood wall hangers are Homco ... garage sale or thrift shop finds! ;-) I love Christmas time & Winter decor ... snowmen, esp & I love those blue LED lights & the larger white ones on the tree! So pretty in here!

I saw this tree shared on Facebook...don't know who to give credit to...it's a Pinterest one, I think ~~ but I'm working on this project, too ... now a deep freeze here for at least the next week....aargh ...so don't know if when I'll get back to it. ;-) Jeanne S.

your new santa on the old wood is going?

Time to quit pickin' and grinnin' this year. Stay warm and
safe and keep sharing. It's -5 here. Can handle it until the
