Thanks rrcrossing. I'm going for uncompressed format direct to HD for best quality I can get. I'll do my own editing once preservation is accomplished. I've seen price differentials all over the place depending upon total package of service desired so I'm sensitive to your warning.

I think one of the Nero programs you have will do the job. Check the link below for info about it. Video Help dot com is the best for video information. On the left side of the page click Author. You can search for how to guides from there. Or here is a direct link to a how to guide. The guide is for Nero Express 4. Pooh Bear Here is a link that might be useful: Video Help dot com

I use a Sharpie also. But if my wife wants something a little fancier I use my Memorex labels. These come with 120 labels for each of the CD, the front of the plastic jackets and the spline. I only use the round one to stick on the disk. You would also need a thumper, a specail little tool so you get the label in the right place first time. Normally about $20 a pack but I have found them in Big Lots for $10 on occasions.

I downloaded PhotoStory 3 about 5 years ago and made a DVD (w/music) using pictures I'd taken when my friends daughter had her baby. You can download it here FREE http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/PhotoStory/default.mspx I made 2 videos that year, both with music and both played on the DVD player. Then, then year I made another video/dvd of pictures I'd taken at my daughters wedding in Feb.! No how no way would it let me burn the video to a dvd. Turned out I had to purchase a "plug-in" for PhotoStory 3. Once I did that, it was a breeze!
