The Windows Mail contacts should be in the user root folder (by name). On my Vista system, click on Start, the Start Menu appears and the menu extension appears to the right. The root folder (by name) is the first entry on the top. Or, On the c:/ drive: Users>user root folder (by name)>Contacts DA

I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago. On the pro side, Vista loads and shuts down faster then XP Pro. It seems to work better with most of my applications. It definitely works better with Office 2007, which was slow with XP. I have not had any operational problems. I did have a problem with the Firewall of Microsoft's Live OneCare, but found the solution in a Web search. The only cons of Vista was a lack of support for my five year old lexmark printer. Lexmark has informed me that they will not provide Vista drivers for a "legacy" printer. No more Lexmark printers for me!!!!! I just purchased a Canon printer on eBay. Vista is supported and the Canon has better features and cheaper ink. I work in the computer field and will have to deal with Vista, so I had some incentitive to upgrade. So far, I've had many more problems with XP Service Pack 2.

After much debate, I decided on XP because of software compatibility issues and information sharing between the new computer and the older XP. Both computers are used for work and must work together. I purchased the new computer to upgrade, down-the-line, to Vista. One problem I didn't consider was MS Office. The new machine was only sold with Office 07. The older machine has Office 03. All Word docs have to be saved at 03 docs on the new machine in order to be opened on the older machine. I guess it depends on what you use it for. I didn't have time to fool with getting Vista to work with what I need for work.

I think at this time I would block it and hold off to see if maybe it gets fixed, I would use extreme caution in doing the update and read this ongoing blog about some of the results that can occur including losing all address book contacts.
