window vista dell inspiron 1525

Received my laptop and was excited. First time purchasing a window vista dell inspiron 1525 laptop. I have tried everything I know how to receive and send email. I've noticed it sends and receive email when it wants to. Most times, it doesn't receive or send at all. Can anyone help me.? I get my email now from yahoo.com on my laptop. My desk top is the same for the one I'm using now.

What e-mail program are you using on the Desk top?

If you go to Yahoo's website and login to the mail portal, then go to settings, you should look for the ablility to receive your email through POP or IMAP and the instructions on how to set it up in various email applications (ex. Outlook, Express, etc).

No I am not upset but it makes it very difficult to help if we ask for specific info as I did in my earlier post and never get it, then it becomes a big guessing game. at LzD it is best to always post in the malware and analysis area to make sure you are getting the assistance you are wanting. And again not everyone at all forums are the experts. Corrine posted a reply on that thread saying she had not had the same experience as the other poster as to Vista. So as I said when you have a question as to something said always ask for further info or clarification. Vista and windows7 are both created from the same core elements and are very much alike in many aspects. I asked earlier if you had updated your Vista to the latest service pack that is essential for Vista it corrected many issues they had with it and may help yours if it has not yet been done. I told how to find that info earlier.

You all helped me! I went to the site that Genes told me to go "fixya.com". Scroll through the posters with a similar problem as I had. This one worked... I now have a Dell Touchpad icon on my system tray by downloading the suggested download. My touch pad is disable...thank you, thank you, thank you....I really appreciate your advice. I am typing like mad and love it. Thanks again. Here is the information in case anyone else has the problem with Dell Inspirion.... Any sounds? Nothing on the screen indicates a problem not related to Windows because you're not even getting past the POST. Likely hardware related - could be lots of stuff - motherboard, video card, memory. You might try pulling the battery (and disconnecting it from the wall charger) and letting it sit for 30 minutes or so. If that doesn't work, try pulling the coin cell (CMOS battery) - it's and a small access door on the back of the machine and also (again) the main battery. Let it sit again. Maybe you get lucky.

If this laptop were a patient in the hospital, there would be a discrete little sign up saying DNR (Do Not Resuscitate). Ha ha, I love it. I agree, spending money on either is a total waste. However if you wish to play around that is different. Look at both machines to see if the 25 digit COA is readable. If so you can use any XP CD to reinstall Windows but DO NOT use the COA that comes with the CD, use the one on the computer itself because that is tied to the motherboard. This is totally legal. Obviously you could use the COA from the CD but that would be a waste of a licence, or it might be dedicated to another computer already. Before doing this I strongly suggest you get the drivers from Dell for the motherboard, LAN, sound etcetera

I started using yahoo, but there is email in my gmail that I need. I am unable to get in. It's not that important, but it keeps reminding me that I have unread email and I keep closing that window out. On my desk top, I have outlook express. Thanks so much for your help. Why is it so hard to set up email with google? I read some of the thread of other people who are having the same problem.

First question, can you access gmail through their website?
Second, are you trying to access gmail through outlook express?

I have a couple of gmail accounts and I can access them either through the website or using Outlook Express. There are instructions on the Google Mail site for setting it up to download in Outlook Express if you wish that.

I tried the outlook express and it worked. I didn't think of this. what a blessing! Is it easy to set up outlook from google website? I'll try. Can I get outlook from my laptop or do I use my desk top each time. Some mail I was suppose to receive to reset my password was not visible.
I have to go to work shortly, but I'll try as soon as I can. thanks

I have both a desktop and a laptop and I have Outlook Express on both with the gmail coming to OE. However, once it downloads to OE once (for example, on your desktop) it will not also download to the laptop and vice versa. So this can be a little annoying if you forget where a particular e-mail is.
