I just use 1 - 4' shop light per shelf which holds 2 - 40 watt bulbs - 3200 lumens per bulb. I also have the entire setup wraped in mylar, except the top to vent. i only use the top 4 shelves, due to this setup being in the basement. The bottom shelve i think gets too cold. I keep extra supplies down there. I have each shelf filled with plants. 90% japanese maple seedlings, dianthus cuttings, impatien cuttings, and some startings of hosta and other seeds. I am not using it to grow veggies. I made a mistake of cold stratifying the maples too early and i had to grow them thru winter... I can say they are not doing too well.. after about 4 months under these lights.. only about 25% have 6" of growth of more. The other ones are about 3" or less. I dont know if it has to deal with the ones growing more being more centered in the light or not..this is the first time with japanese maple seeds, so i have nothing to compare to. But my goal was just to get it thru winter until i can bring them out in a month or two. If i had the choice or the money, i would put a second 4' shop light. It seems like there is no such thing as too much light.. maybe too much heat..but in the winter, i don't think you would have that problem

Thanks writersblock - that's a great point. I'd planned on going stainless in the master but suddenly it started sounding a bit gray or something. Dull might be the word I wanted. I just ran so far away from chrome 10-15 years ago that it feels odd to be going back to it! :)

cat_mom - Yes! It's been amazing. This is the first whole room remodel I've ever done, and it just feels...good. :P fori - Thank you! I tried to pick a "manly" lavender, so that it would be fairly unisex. I think I succeeded, it is somewhat muted so that helps it be more grey-ish lavender. minal - I wish I could say that we did it ourselves, but no, we had a contractor do the tile, glass door, and the plumbing. They did a great job and did everything the way I would have, with no weird grout lines or tile sizes. I'm very pleased, and they were affordable, too! My husband and I tackled the electrical including the new fan (attics suck), and also the vanity knobs and accessory hardware. treasuretheday - Thanks, and the accessory likes the new bathroom too! She's always loved bathtubs and showers, and she just goes in there and hangs out randomly now. :)

I'm looking for a 'pedestal' for a kitchen cabinet at the end of my island that "floats" 10 1/2" inches above the floor. I would prefer to find something about 10" to 12" in diameter to use as a single pedestal. Or, I could use something at least 4 inches in diameter and use four of them for legs. I've searched the web for metal legs but can't find anything close to the height and girth that I'd like. Any ideas?
