Glad this old thread was resurrected... After reading it i'm sticking with a drop-in sink. They're not in style but with doing all the work myself, I prefer how easy it is to replace top mount sinks. And since going with a granite composite sink, I can imagine my heavy iron pans causing cracks or chips. Now I can safely bang the sink up while washing heavy pans without too much worrying. Worst case scenario is buying a new sink and dropping it in. That's waaaay easier than ripping out an under-mount in my slightly undersized sink cabinet.

buehl- I am pretty sure that yours can be converted. The part is fairly inexpensive- $37 on Amazon (although I paid double that since I had to ship it next day air...). I called ISE customer service to confirm before I bought it and they said it will fit any Evolution disposer. I actually found the part by accident on Amazon- couldn't find it on the ISE website. I posted this same question in the Plumbing forum, but thought there'd likely be some people here who know about these things.... Do any of you know if ISE's CCA-00 batch-feed sink disposer adapter (a $40 part that transforms a common wall-switch-controlled disposer into a twist-the-drain-cover batch feed disposer) will work with any disposer, or at least any manufactured by ISE/Emerson, or does it really only fit their new (and expensive) Evolution series disposers (which are they only ones they will warrant an installation with)? The cabinet is a standard height. That is, the sink is undermounted beneath the counter, and the final counter height is standard. The cabinet is about 32" wide. I can't say exactly, because the entire wall of cabinetry was custom made in the vintage style where it is all one long unit. The cabinets are not separate, and the side of the sink cabinet is also the side of the cabinet next to it. The installation was all very stressful for me because the "hole" where the sink would fit had to be pretty darn close to the correct height in order to make the counter the right height. Now, since my cabinets are painted, I did have some wiggle room. We needed to shim the sink to make it exactly the right height and levelness. The gaps all around the sink were covered with bondo (by me), and then painted. So the sink is perfectly snuggled in now. But if I had wood cabinets, my cabinetmaker would NOT have had the skill to do a beautiful job. Pictures, you say? You might be sorry you asked! Get ready for a bunch! I hope they help.
