Thermador 30' induction cooktop (CIT304E)- silver mirrored finish
Comments (15)Buyers beware. I purchased the Thermador 30" induction cooktop in March 2010 for $2,299 plus tax. The cooktop had problems from day one. The problems ranged from being only able to use one burner at a time to none of the burners working at all, and various error messages appearing each time. The service from Thermador was deplorable. Even though the repairman said that the problem was there from the beginning, Thermador refused to cover the labor because we just passed the one year warranty. It did not matter to them that family circumstances prevented us from being able to repair the cooktop sooner. The repairman got the burners to work, but now there are strange vibrating noises. On top of that, it took more than a dozen calls just to get the repairman to show up. Thermador could care less about their reputation. The repairman said that the cooktop has so many potential spots for error, and that these tops are extremely complicated. I suspect I will be replacing my cooktop in less than a year (because it doesnt work), and I will definitely not go with Bosch/Thermador....See MoreThermador, Miela & Jenn-Air 36'' Induction Cooktops
Comments (14)Yes Soly, the red aura is the inner workings of the top when powerfully lit from above. I saw a little red on a Miele in a showroom, but the Kitchenaid I saw recently was alarmingly red. When my hood light is on I can look closely and my Gagg hobs are slightly burgundy, and if I peer down I can see a tiny bit of the workings in red. I don't know if the showroom lights were way more intense than a home hood, but the KA I saw really turned me off. You didn't have to be right above it to see it as you need to be with mine. There's no difference when it's operating...you know it doesn't glow red-hot like an electric smoothtop. Mine always appears black unless you're searching for the reddishness. The Thermador I saw in the showroom didn't seem to glow red either. And it looked really cool. But not as cool as the silver one! The Thermador was a top contendor...I just got a great deal on a fully warranty-ed discontinued Gagg for about what I'd pay for a GE...and I LOVE the knob! Maybe take a flashlight to a showroom and pretend to be a hood? Have you checked out the Bosch's? I think they now have the shut off timers, and Gagg, Therm, and Bosch are all made by the same crew. BTW, had a service check on my Gagg (5 year warranty!) and the dedicated Gagg/Therm/Bosch guy came out in his cool Bosch van. It was SO refreshing to have a tech actually know the product in and out. He says he responds to very few service calls on the induction units...just "is this what it's supposed to sound like" calls like mine. I'm sure it's the same with the Miele dudes. You'll love it no matter which you select!...See MoreThynes - how do you like the Thermador induction cooktop?
Comments (4)Sorry for not getting to this sooner. Been backcountry snowmobiling for a few days. Sure is refreshing to be without cell and internet access... "off the grid" so to speak. Rather than retype a review, I'll link to a thread where I posted my thoughts. I'm sure I've posted small reviews in other threads as well... a Google search for [gardenweb kitchen thynes Thermador] should turn them up as well. Our experience with the Thermador mirror finish induction cooktop remains the same: uniformly positive. It has seen 18 months of fairly heavy use and continues to function perfectly without showing any scratches or wear. As well, with no creases or grooves it is super easy to clean. Oh, and thanks for the compliment oasisowner!! :) Here is a link that might be useful: Thermador, Miela & Jenn-Air 36'' Induction Cooktops...See MoreAnything you don't like about your induction range/cooktop?
Comments (29)Also have the GE Profile slide in and am very happy with it. At first I thought pressing of the buttons for temp control would be a pain, but I'm used to it now and with a nice smooth surface on the control panel cleanup is such a breeze. The oven is great too. I don't regret it. I personally like the look of those nice gas ranges with the big grates on them . I think they "look" great. But I was just at a neighbors house who owns one. It was dirty and I was reminded of how nice it is to have such ease clean up. I don't envy having to remove and scrub all those grates on a regular basis. I do wish I could slide it in a bit more. it does not sit flush with the cabinets even though it's back as far as it can be. Wasn't expecting that. I think if space allowed I'd want a 36" cooktop just to have a bit more roomy cooking surface, but honestly I can only think of a couple times that I've had to juggle things to make them fit. On a daily basis I use the front two burners 99% of the time w/o any issues....See MoreRelated Professionals
