java 'uncheck google toolbar'

On another post, someone warns to uncheck google toolbar when downloading SuperAntispyware if you don't want it. I wonder if that also applies to downloading the new Spyware Blaster version, and if so, where do I look for this option to uncheck?

Running W/98 with unused IE, and Firefox - but getting ready to move to XP (sigh)

The new version of Spywareblaster does not offer the opportunity to install or not install any toolbars. When you go looking for updates the program tells you to click the link taking you to their web site to download the new version.

Be sure to look for updates once installed. Also if you are not willing to pay for the program be sure to click to do manual updates and the the automatic update option.

That was me, it was not SuperAntiSpyware that had google toolbar..

It was the java update that installs google toolbar.. I only mentioned because the new java up-Date was also available on the same page that SuperAntiSpyware was...

Oh RavenCajun, I'm trying to stay calm but hubby is going to freak if I have to tell him I got Trojans on a practically new computer. *taking deep breaths* You're right (again! lol)....some of these programs seem to automatically download things I didn't want. In the Remove programs area I found things that I knew could be included with other items I downloaded but I never wanted them, but there they were! Examples: Open Office, Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, Webshots something-or-other, etc. I promise to be much more careful in the future by making sure to inspect for something that is checked as if I want it, but don't. Even though I "Remove Selected" on everything, this info below shows "no action taken". do you mean in add remove programs? you should only have the latest version located there if that is what you meant, having old versions is a huge risk to your security. Now the newest version will remove the previous version but you do have to remove all the other old versions manually. JavaRA is an excellent little tool that will do all the hard work for you. Download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop. (at bottom of this post) * Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program. (Windows Vista users Right-click JavaRa.exe > Select Run as Administrator) * Click on Remove Older Versions to remove older versions of Java. Then download and install Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16. Jasdip some one had to have installed winzip on the pc at some point, however it can be used in the free version. I don't know what version of windows you have, you may have the ability to do zip in windows. I would suggest removing winzip if you don't want to use it and install another free zip program if you don't have the ability in windows. It sounds like winzip has been set as default for zip files on your pc so removing it might stop that or you can change the default settings for zip files. A good freebie is 7 zip www. 7-zip. org Usually on winzip it offers you the option to go ahead and continue free you might look closely for that or as mentioned uninstall it and install 7zip
