I have a Bluestar 30" RCS v2 and a Zephyr Napoli 36" island hood (ZNA-M90CS). The stainless steel color match is very good. To my eye, they look as if they were made from the same batch of steel and brushed with the same tools and technique. I really love my Bluestar RCS but I have mixed feelings about the Napoli. It looks really nice but it is a lot noisier than I expected. Technically, the noise volume is relatively low and to spec -- ranging from about 40dB(a) to 66dB(a) depending upon the fan speed setting. The problem is not the noise volume, but rather, the quality/pitch of the noise. It is not the low frequency sound of air rushing through the baffles. It is a higher pitch whirring motor/fan sound right at ear level.. You can easily talk over it with normal conversation, but it is quite irritating to listen to. Also, as an island hood, its flat bottom capture area it is not very effective. If I place a steam kettle with its spout directly under the center of the hood (the baffles are 33" above the burner grates), a large portion of the rising steam hits the baffles and then just rolls around and up the sides of the hood to the ceiling. There is no effective storage volume below the baffles to capture and hold the effluent long enough for the air flow to completely exhaust it into the duct. In retrospect, I would rather have an island hood with an external blower and deep recessed, angled baffles.

nuppal we went with the Zephyr Venezia hood. We find it to be very quiet and does a great job. We have only had it about 6 months but we do a lot of cooking and the house is always smoke and odor free. The baffles are easy to clean.

Looking at the picture, I can't really tell what the issue is. Most manufacturer duct covers are telescoping two pieces because they have to work in a variety of ceiling heights - this is normal and not the fault of the installer or manufacturer. If you want a seamless duct cover, then you have to get something custom made, usually through a sheet metal fabricator. The only potential issue here (and I can't tell by the picture), is that maybe the cover was installed upside down? If so, I would imagine it to be an easy fix. For the vents, I'm not sure what you're referring to, unless it's slits at the top of the duct cover. If so, these are for units that can be installed as either externally venting or recirculating. For the latter, these slits are where the air exits back into the kitchen after going through the charcoal filter. If you have it ducted out through a pipe, then these serve no purpose but will be visible, and they would be at the top of the cover. All the air pushed through the vent hood will be going into the duct pipe, and the cover will just be aesthetic.

I have this range hood, had it installed in 2012. Setup is not optimal as I vent straight out the back wall, but it works well enough in my 12x14' open kitchen plan. If I do something really strong smelling/smoky, I do have to run the fan for a couple of hours afterwards. But that's an open plan characteristic; odors go everywhere, LOL. I don't cook as much as I used to, so am not "stressing out" the vent system as I would have done in my younger days (formal dinner parties including 10-course Chinese banquets). Still, I'd give it a solid "B". Considering I don't have the ideal (through the roof) setup, it does a good job. Not too noisy at low speeds, but on high fan noise is noticeable. After 7 yrs I can't say the clean-up is ideal. The grating is just to keep things like paper towels or plastic film from getting chopped through the fans; it doesn't catch grease by itself. Spraying the fan blades with Windex works okay but eventual grease build-up on them is inevitable. If you cook a lot, it's always going to be better to have a heavy-duty vent hood, with the type of fan blades that can be taken out and run through the DW. I'd say for 80% of cooks the Zephyr Tycoon would probably work just fine. But if you stir-fry a lot, do Cajun cooking, etc., then even 850 cfm, especially on a straight-horizontal install like mine, is right at the edge of being underpowered. HTH.
