Same problem. Just had counters put in yesterday. Went to lower my new stove (2 weeks old) and it won't lower any further. Installers never told me it was at the lowest setting. The were supposed to keep it high off of my old counters so that we could install new counters and then lower the stove. My counters are at 35 1/4 " because I have a floor that was installed over existing flooring. I didn't know this until today. The appliance place told me today that the stove won't go any lower. I can't take feet off or the bottom drawer won't open and it still wouldn't lower it enough. It sits 3/4" higher than the counters. This looks ridiculous since it sits so high off of the counter. I would never have bought this stove. I thought of everything before the new counters came. I had to level my dishwasher and put flooring under it since the floor was built around it. I've done so much to prepare for the counters. I am disgusted. The appliance store recommended that I have a U shaped granite filler cut to go around the sides and back so it will sit flush to something. This U shaped piece would sit on top of my new counter top. I think it is going to look ridiculous. I have my counter top company looking into some ideas. Any other thoughts?

Ahem. I believe flex aluminum ducting, as the above image appears to show, is prohibited for grease contaminated ducts. They have to be steel to resist fire penetration. Even if one chooses to ignore code, for safety's sake please routinely inspect and replace if build-up is detected. Alternatively, if the ducting were surrounded by steel in both cavities -- such as metal on all the cabinet surfaces -- it might be passible.

When is a sale not a sale? When you buy something that isn't what you really want or need. Ordinarily, this would be the point where I say they all get hot and you have a budget, so stick to it. And I'm very anti credit card. But in this case I think there's a real safety issue. The Frigidaire might be perfectly fine under ordinary circumstances, but what about extraordinary ones? What if you have a grease spill and there's a flare up. You won't be able to shut off the stove!! What if you're cooking up a storm and everything is just plain hot? And you have to lean over it to reach the knobs? I think in this case it's worth the extra money for a safer unit and an additional vent hood. Though you could try to talk them into a sale on the hood too. Keep talking. That's how salesmen make sales. You just need to sell the salesman. So, hard questions: Can you really pay off the whole thing before the interest kicks in? Can you set up automatic payments or something so that they never ever have an excuse to charge you interest early? Will you be giving up something else you really really need if you get the better range? One of the few things I, the anti-credit card person, thinks one should take out a loan for (i.e., using credit) is a necessary appliance. A range is a necessary appliance. A safe range is a more necessary appliance. Zero interest is very attractive, if you can and will actually pay it off. Do you have $150/mo. to put toward it? If you can't pay it off in 18 months, can you afford the interest and get it paid off soon thereafter? If you can afford it, I say get the safer range and separate vent, and be happy.

How did the installation go? Also I just wanted to let you know one other thing. When we got our range, the installer told us we needed a back piece to it that we had to order because ours in not in the island so it goes up against a wall and we have not had our new counters put in yet. It was pretty expensive to get the piece that goes along the back and the stainless steel piece goes 6 inches up the wall too. I didn't think I wanted this look. When I sat down that night though to read through the manuals, I noticed in the installation guide that you can get a free back piece that does not go up the wall for FREE! So if you have the same dilema I did, make sure you check the installation guide for the number. I called and they shipped it immediately. Best of luck!
