The barrister's bookcase in my back hall has most of my Mikasa Holiday Elegance figurines in it. Last year, one of you gals had the neatest material behind your Nativity....it was dark blue with sparkly gold stars. I went online to track down a yard and use this year for mine. I love it.

Sofa table in living-room. The tin sleigh was found in an antique shop a dozen years ago, and I usually
keep this gold arrangement in it. Tho I should do something different one of these Christmases'.

Ok, I'll correct myself, the pic w/ all of them, is egg, 2nd, 3rd & 4th instar, right? I know the big guy was in 4th, I watched him shed his skin shortly after the pic was taken, and he's now pupated. Some of the others are in 5th instar as of today too!

Up around Tulsa the highways are not sprayed and only mowed after the wildflowers go to seed. Miles and miles of wildflowers bloom along the highways. I cannot vouch for the how it looks on the off roads - dirt roads - but at least you see the Tulsa area officials taking a stand for Nature. They are more progressive thinking up there. Over on the West side of Stillwater the same is true to a lesser extent, but only because of the university faculty and students. The local yo-calls don't seem that "into" the local Wildlife or preservation that I have ever seen, other than shooting it and making trails with their three wheels and other rec vehicles. The land on the west side and an area on the south side of Stillwater belongs to Okla State. They have a large experimental garden there that is open to the public. They also have lots of experimental sites dotted around in Payne county where they grow new crops, varieties of fruit, fruit trees, herbs & flowers. Once a year the plants are sold to the public. Too pricey for me, but all proceeds do go back to the school's horticultural or agricultural studies. On the west side is where Lake Karl Blackwell is located, which I believe was built by students many many years ago and is operated by the University. Loblolly pines were planted there about 30 years ago. There are little log cabins that can be rented and some are perpetually leased, so the families keep them for generations. My kids and I spent one Fourth of July at one of the cabins with a friend and her family. They were small, spacious and VERY NICE. In the spring the wildflowers along the highway are quite pretty. They were almost all seeded by university students. One year they seeded the median with Oxeye Daisies and for more than two miles they filled the grassy median. Sure beat just old Bermuda grass. It was lovely. But down this way...not the same story. As for the farmers and ranchers who leas that land....uh...well. They spray with herbicide. They use chemical fertilizers and they us pesticides. On the days they spray, I keep all the animals inside and you cannot go outside else you might choke to death on it. I am serious. Yes, I have called the authorities concerning my complaint about the herbicide and etc. I told them how it killed off all my wildflowers and even my herb garden. They smiled and told me, "Hey lady. This is farm country. What do you expect the farmers to do? They have to do what they have to do to make a living, and if that means spraying, then they spray. And I seriously doubt you would find any lawyer who would be willing to take your case, and if they did, it would end up costing you more than you lost." He was right. However, I have put the word out with lots of the locals about what I am doing out here, especially the owner of the local feedstore in town, (who is the one you call when you want to know ANYTHING around here), so I am sure Jim has told the local men about me and my "funny ways a doin' things". This town is like Mulberry USA, except that instead of going to the barber shop, they all meet over at Jim's feedstore and stand around jawing about "important stuff". I talked to the new guy who leases that land about the herbicides. He said 'Why sure little lady!" with a big cheesy grin and then 2 days later he sprayed anyway. However, this year he didn't spray herbicides and he left a wide span of wild vegetation between where he plowed and sprayed fertilizers and planted his crops and our 2 stretches of fence that borders his field, so I am HOPING he is being considerate. At least I will act like that is why he did that. Probably just left those areas to prevent erosion, but whatever. It works for me! As one of the locals sages here likes to to tell me, "Things here is the way they always has been, and there ain't no a'changin" how they is, don'tcha see?" Thanks everyone for taking the time to look at all my "patriotic" decorating. I need to stop by Dollar Tree for some blue carnations and some blue paper shred. Candy, I appreciate the info on the flag and will turn it around--would never want to disrespect it for sure. It's one of those little flags with the cord on the end for hanging, I'd really like it better if it could be hung lengthwise. Karen, I've got a book full of those painted pavers. I'll be glad to share it with you anytime. Just don't use your good brushes on them--they are pretty rough on the bristles. I think the big Uncle Sam with the box may need to be painted. He's sit out in the sun for many years now and his face is getting pretty pale. Usually by the 4th, I have blue agapanthas and red and white roses to put in his little vase. The red roses are blooming now, but no white ones yet. Maybe in the next week or so. Can't wait to see more patriotic decor from all of you. Hint hint! ;o) Luvs

I am in LOVe w/that curio cabinet in the middle of your house & those Mikasa Holiday series ... I have a snowman w/a birdhouse. That is sweet!!! That cabinet is such a cool shape & can see everything from all sides...love it! Your bay window is always a fave place to visit ~~ & those curio cabinets filled w/your precious ponies are both very, very beautiful there! Also am loving the 'Dashing thru the snow' wall hanging! Your living room fireplace/mantel is just a 'dream,' PM...those nutcrackers are always so 'majestic' standing guard over everything. Just wonderful w/those tall candle holders & the finial tree-toppers, everything! love it all although I am very partial to the gold decor esp that wire container and the gold and green and berries. Also LOVE the nutcrackers and the fireplace. As always Karen your decor is beautiful .....

I love that starry fabric behind your nativity set ...wasn't that lynnenc that used that in her faux fireplace or something? I remember it being 'beautiful' whoever did that!

Ohhh..love, love the mercury glass deer w/purples! (& I am always in awe of that entry way sideboard (or whatever it is called) that you decorate so beautifully!

Your arrangements are always so pretty, PM ... love that new gold one in the iron wall basket! & I am so happy to see those Breyer Christmas horses...that display is so lovely...you're the only person I know that displays those & they are so colorful ...a whimsical look at Christmas!

Wow! The nutcracker 'special' ...your fireplace in the LR! This just shouts, 'Merry Christmas' ...the rockin' horse nutcrackers...the glass spires...lights & poinsettas! Gorgeous!

I love your mercury glass reindeer. My husband drove me around for a 100 mile radius to all the michaels the first year you posted the reindeer. I was never able to find one so I do have a deep envy. I have a large reindeer collection and he would have joined in great. Thanks for showing him in your pictures again.

OMG I thought that I was the only little girl that collected breyer horses.
Right now I have a huge box full of all my breyer horses that I collected when I was a little girl(loved playing with them, I was horse crazy back then). DH keeps threatening me that he is going to throw them out one day. I Kept thinking I would one day have a little girl and she would love to play with them, but I had all boys. Now I tell DH maybe one day I'll have a granddaughter that will love to play with them. So they are still waiting patiently in the box.
What wonderful memories they bring back.

mamerjj, I am so sorry you could find one of those big mercury reindeers. I know they went FAST here. Especially as folks could use the 40% off on them. The original price was $40, so great savings. I grabbed one for my daughter and myself. I love reindeer too, and especially this big guy. I am always looking for large ones, with little luck!

Jeanne, I think it was our Jane that had the fabric.

Deco, I am as horse crazy as they come, tho haven't had a real one in almost 30 yrs. As a child I had every Breyer that came out, then stupidly gave them away when I was around 19. Those old ones can be worth a lot now!!! Check eBay sometime and look them up, tho the economy has hurt sales this year. I started collecting the Christmas Breyers a few years ago, and some other models that I simply couldn't resist. I love anything to do with horses. and started soon as I learned to walk and sat on a pony, and I so wish I could have a horse now but not possible.

Thank you, Gang. I always love sharing my decor with you, and you always make me feel so good. I just realized I didn't get a photo of the bay window! Tho not that happy with it this year. ;o(

You did way more than me, this s a lean year for me with leg pain. I did good all summer but its acting up with the colder weather.

Always love your fireplace & especially love your large marble console with your horses. It really showcases them. Everything else is so pretty too.

So glad you are showing us your different areas and what all you have done this year!! You have really created some gorgeous scenes. I love the fabric background for your nativity! I have a 2 section barristers bookcase, but no place to put it so it is in the basement, : (
