You need a scanner which can scan slides and negatives. Most of the ones which are called photo scanners will work, I used the Epson Perfection 1660 Photo to do mine. It cost around $80 when I bought it. A regular scanner will not work. To scan slides and negatives they have to be backlit. For editing the pictures after scanning something like adobe photoshop elements or corel paint shop pro is nice, but you may have other photo editing software on your computer that will work. If you have a dvd writer on your computer you should have everything else you need. There was a thread about this not long ago. You should find it if you do a search. Dont expect to finish the project in a hurry because it will take some time.

I done mine with an Epson 1660 as Bob did and it worked fine. I set the resolution on the scanner at 350 and then saved them in tiff format. It made large files but they last better if you are going to edit them. I was very satisfied.

My scanner came with a slide and filmstrip scanning adapter that fits onto the flatbed scanner.
Basically you'll need something to scan the slides and get them onto the computer, after that it'll be a breeze putting them onto dvd if you have a burner.

I have the Epson V200 scanner. It was around $69 from newegg.com. It can scan 4 slides at once and put each one into a seperate file. Does a fantastic job. I save mine as .jpg
