Sharing eBooks

Will an eBook fit on a Flash Drive? If so, and I download a book to my PC, can I copy it to a Flash Drive to share with a friend?

I replied about kindle for pc on your other thread, with kindle for pc you can put it on several computers and share books and sync them automatically.

I am exploring options other than Kindle. I know the Sony has to work with a PC to download a book. Anyway, if I decided to use a netbook, I could download to the netbook and then take it to my friend and let her copy the book onto her PC? Sync them automatically? I'm mired back in the days when I used DOS and copied A: to B:. Is syncing the same? I really am very challenged using computers.

John - are you passing on the $200 labor savings to the customer? I doubt it as you'd still be working for wages and it'd be unusual for someone with that mentality to garner the knowledge you have. Most setters are going to charge a set "fee" for a shower pan or per sq. foot of tile. If they do it faster they pocket more, if slower they make less. Just the business. Not a lot of TQM studies in the trades. So for the consumer, it's just not a selling point. Cheaper material cost is something they get behind frequently. Another problem I have , more of a reservation with these products is they are not "time tested" like 20 years real world tested like a mud job over tar paper. Don't get me wrong , I like these things, spec and use them all ( except the Laticrete) , just have that little feeling in the back of the mind like: Am I going to be the guy that touted polybutylene or GP siding. Those were "the latest and greatest" until they weren't 20 years later. Another thing consumers need to be aware of with the liquid applied membranes is that strict thickness guidelines need to be followed for them to work and I rarely see enough of the stuff applied in the field by mechanics. Another issue of concern is with hybrid methods. I'm sure you guys are all upstanding and care about you rep, but you are providing the warranty in these systems as the manuf. will only step up if you use the complete system. That's fine as long as the end user is aware of this.

I'm going to take the streusel part of this recipe and use it when I make Glenda's sour cream banana bread. Woo hoo! BANANA BREAD WITH CHOCOLATE CHIP STREUSEL (A Cook at Heart) 2/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup sugar 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature 1 large egg 3 very ripe mashed bananas 3 tablespoons milk Preheat oven to 350Ã¯Â¿Â½F. Spray a 9Ã¯Â¿Â½5-inch metal loaf pan. Stir chocolate chips, brown sugar, and walnuts together in a small bowl. Set aside. Sift all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt into medium bowl. Beat sugar, butter, and egg in large bowl until fluffy. Beat in mashed bananas and milk. Add dry ingredients and blend well. Spread half of batter in loaf pan. Sprinkle with half of streusel. Repeat with remaining batter and streusel. Bake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Cool coffee cake in pan on rack. Cooking time: 50 minute(s) Number of servings (yield): 12

you have to use overdrive to get the library books but even if your local library does not do it you can do it from the list of libraries that do. This is not just Nook related, the format that is used is the epub format so any reader that can read epub can access and use the library books. This link will help you understand how to accomplish this. How To Get Free eBooks From Libraries Using Overdrive that website is a great resource, every month they put out a list of all the free ebooks in various formats, be sure you check it regularly because a book may only stay free for a few days. there are a LOT of sites you can get free ebooks from and many of them are the type you are looking for. I really like feedbooks. Feedbooks Big NOOK Book Deals also there just do a search for free nook books or click the link on the left side. Free eBooks ManyBooks.net New and Featured ebooks Great Ebooks those are a few links for ebooks many free ones available. Also you can get the calibre program which is excellent and will help you change formats if you find a book in a different format and much more. calibre you do know you can use an additional SD memory card to hold a LOT of books too right? rhizo - I have occasionally asked a few people if they have the particular book I'm missing and the responses were about 50-50. Unfortunately, back then I would simply loan a few books at a time to people and assume they'd return them, so I wouldn't miss a particular book for quite a while. Sometimes I would find out that one of my sons had taken the book! Now I have whittled down the number of people I loan books to. One of those people even makes a list of what Iloan her and the date, and I've been told I should do that. I've been told I should write my name in my books, but I strongly feel that's defacing a book. (OK, I'm weird) However I have started putting a post-it note in each book. Yes, there have been several books that never were recovered and since I still wanted a copy I would buy another, loan it, and again, lose it. Sometimes I would end up buying several before one managed to stay on my shelves. However, here's another problem with beloved books. The older I get the more I feel the need to pare down my belongings as I feel sooner or later I'll have to possibly move to some sort of assisted living place, so I've been culling the shelves and passing them on to the Friends of the Library shop. Either way, lost or donated, I guess those books will bring someone joy on discovery.

I'm curious as to why your friend doesn't just download the book herself.

If it is a book you purchased, it would be protected by copyright, wouldn't it and shouldn't be copied to be shared?

with Kindle you can only share a bought book with kindle units or kindle for pc apps which are on the same amazon account you can not share it with someone that has a different account. They allow you to have a number of kindle units and kindle for pc apps per account which is nice and handy and you can sync between all of them.
The free books can be shared openly and freely of course.

for Example if I had a Purchased kindle book on my kindle or kindle for pc and put it on a memory card and gave it to a friend and they put it in their pc and moved the book to their kindle for pc booklist (totally different account from mine) it would appear in the list but it would not open it will give a warning.
If my friend had set up her kindle for pc using my amazon account info then yes it would work because it would see it as one of my kindle's, but who would ever want to let anyone use their account info!

My friend loves to read but doesn't buy her own books. She waits for others to give her their books, after they read them. If she is interessted in a particular book she waits until someone gives it to her or she does without. She likes the idea of reading from a Kindle but thinks paying for eBooks is too expensive. I suppose she might find a free book to download, but she is interested recent releases. She disciplines herself and if no one offers her a book she would particularly like, she goes without. I recently gave her two new best seller releases in hardcover and she needled me because I had bought them new. Some book sellers were having price wars and I got each for less than $10. This is just extravagent to my friend. I was hoping she might split the cost with me if I got an eBook that was around $10. I usually buy used paperbacks from the internet.
