I was having a problem with my status bar freezing or hanging when I tried to get in some of the sites I visit. Also our cable company has been doing maintenance in our area so I called them. The tech I talked to the second time said it sounds more like a router problem. I told him I have Linksys, he replied so did he and he sometimes had to unplug and plug it back in, 2 or 3 times a day to work on line. He suggested I disconnect the router for a few days to see if my PC works properly. I did that early this AM and it has been fine so far. I will know more in the morning when I turn the PC on. Since some others had a problem with freezing/hanging on the status bar, this info might help them.

One thing your husband may want to try, this is what I do and like it, I create folders on the bar directly above the tabs which is the bookmarks toolbar, in those folders I put say my daily faves the ones I go to first every day, then all I have to do is right click that folder and hit open all in tabs and voila there they all are. I do a folder for my emails too since I have a few and can open all them at once the same way. I love the bookmarks tool bar, if you choose not to put them in folders you can simply drag any website you are currently on to the bookmarks tool bar by grabbing it's icon in the url bar and just drag it to that toolbar and it will stick, to change the name right click on the icon choose properties and you can make changes. to create the folder on the bar right click a clear space click new folder the box comes up to name it, then to put your faves in there just go to the website and drag it in or right click on the folder and select add bookmark here.

I am not getting these follow-up posts emailed to me even though i checked to have emails sent - so I didn't know there was more. I hope they keep supporting version 3 - since we have 5 xp computers between home and work. I do have FF4 on dd's laptop - but not quite sure how it's going for her. She said she didn't like it - and I offered to try above suggestions to make it appear more like she's familiar with. She wants me to in theory - but in reality never wants to hand over the computer to have me do it. When I have more leisure to try again, am I recalling correctly that I can have 2 firefoxes installed - one version 3, and one version 4? And I can use xmarks to sync bookmarks, etc. That way I can get used to ff4 - but go back to 3 for the times I need things to go smoothly and not tinker? you should not lose anything it is just an update version you should be able to just go to the update button on your current firefox and check for updates then select to allow it to update, you will have to shut down and restart firefox once it is done, there are some differences but not that major and there are ways to change the things to look like they did in 2.0 there is a thread on here somewhere that I put a lot of links on to make those changes. (you can search for it) they are ending support for version 2 in the very near future (weeks) so everyone should begin to read up on it and plan on the update. there are a few add ons that are not yet compatible with 3 but 3 has been out so long now that many have already become compatible. I always back up at least my favorites file before doing a version update and sometimes my profile also, to do your favs back up just go to bookmarks, organize bookmarks, click on export, it will open up your storage area on your pc simple save the bookmarks file to some place on your pc or on your desktop where you will remember where it is, that way should anything go wrong you have your bookmarks file right there saved to put into the new version. That is why I really like the add-on foxmarks, it saves all your bookmarks to online, you have a free account, you can log in to it from any where and have access to all your favs, and if you should ever have something happen to your firefox everything is still right there on your foxmarks account and can be synced right back to your browser, and every time you add a new bookmark foxmarks syncs up with the online one and puts them there also.
