If you paid for Norton it's good for 12 months. Did you register it when you installed it? If so go back on the Internet and recheck in using your password and email address that you used when you first registered it. I take it you have a Norton CD. If you didn't register it when you bought it,well Install and Register it. I think you have 15 day to register after Installing. If your 15 days have expired and you didn't registered it. Not sure what will work. Try deleting what's on your computer - Install it again - register it under a new email name that you use. I did this once when it wouldn't accept my first email name. Or get help. Don't pay for it again.

It appears that it is gone. I used the Remover instructions you gave me RC on the Google home page and never saw AVG when I clicked on the the AVG toolbar options/advance. Nor did I see it in IE. The only option for search providers was Google listed as default/enabled/not available. I saw it in Firefox and removed it. I have only uploaded that program a few months back but never used it. I removed the Google toolbar on the culprit Google home page that was with the AVG toolbar and the AVG disappeared. Then I brought back Google. I rebooted and it is still gone and not listed as a program.I am holding my breath as it is a backward way of following the directions though I tried carefully to do that. grandms.Your thought about the company called "On call 25/8" has been running through my mind since they came out and created a pw to get into Windows last week. They had my computer a couple of months ago when I couldn't find a graphic device and did a thorough look. There was something wrong about the guys paying forward pitch that bothered me. For $750 I could get so many hours of future help in my home. He also would take care of installing my new router and Apple apps. This did not work. I booted from the XP disk, got the first couple of screens including license agreement, but it will not let me do the repair. Here is the message: "The partition is either too full, damaged, not formatted, or formatted with an incompatible file system. To continue installing Windows, Setup must format this partition." C:Partition (Unknown) 131072MB (131071MB free)on 131068MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi (MBR) Caution: Formatting will delete any files on the partition." So I backed out, and now cannot boot into Windows at all. I have an Acronis boot disk, and it booted from that, but when I chose Windows, all I got was a black screen with a flashing cursor. I also had a boot disk from AVG, but it would not work at all. This XP disk says on the front Unlicensed Software, but I really don't think I can use it for a clean install, because on the sleeve is a Product Key, and a notation to use this every time you install this software. Of course, my daughter installed it on her PC, so no go there if I understand correctly. Now it appears my only hope is to use the recovery disks I made long ago. I won't be doing anything else tonight as I'm just too tired for that. Thank goodness I have another computer. Now I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the type of recovery where I don't lose my files, or if I'll have to do the full job. My HP manual explains both of those in detail. All I get on boot is the HP screen, and then it just goes black with the flashing white cursor.
