Ive looked at this one - nice, and practically every online white vanity black top out there as well as the companies. I know Modern Bathrooms tends to be the master provider - showing all top or color options while many sites may only sell one version. If you google avanity westwood, you can find it for sale and hopefully reviews on those links, and worth checking for reviews in all sizes since it should still be manufactured the same, just different size. As far as Avanity brand, you search sites like Lowes, HD, amazon, etc for just the words Avanity vanity - the photos results will show how many starts their other models have gotten to get overall idea of their ratings. STILL a company with well made vanities can have a poorly made one so real point is for this model

Hello... I apologize for not responding sooner. Here it is October 5th already...geez...don't you hate that! Sorry. Well...jyyanks...thanks for sharing your experiences. Sounds like nothing went right for you with your Ikea experience. When I was there, we were looking for a recliner and really weren't expecting to see one at Ikea, but they did have one and so we sat in it. OMG it was awful. It was so uncomfortable. But really I felt you could tell just by looking at their upholstered furniture that it was not only uncomfortable but not well made. So I just crossed that type of purchase off the list of what I would consider getting at that store. I'm sure I learned the same lesson you learned at IKEA, at some other similar store earlier. I also ruled out a lot of the textiles because they are so modernistic and I am not at all. I am more country/traditional, so you can imagine most of their stuff would be a leap for me. I did find their cabinetry did appear to have some features that I found appealing and innovative. But then I realized that all of their tall wardrobes are 93" tall and none of them would fit in our house...lol. So, I guess that isn't leaving a lot for me to find there. lnmca....I am going to read the link you provided and keep reading about what others experiences have been with them. I do like to know the facts and not just go with my first impressions. One last thing though...I found that what appealed to me about the company was what seemed like their attempt to try to go 'green', what with their eco friendly 'green roof' on their building and the attempt to use renewable resources to make their products, and I still do find that to be applauded, but...after seeing the menu in the cafeteria there and finding there are limits to how much information you can get on some products materials, I sense there is some contradiction there and/or a very narrow view of what is 'green'. RTA cabinets don't vary much from one brand to another. It really comes down to how handy one is in putting them together correctly and even more important installing them. I wouldn't let anyone scare you off from considering them. Call them at their toll free number, ask a lot of questions and maybe buy a sample door to see if you like it. I get a little tired of all the, but it's probably made in China mantra on this site. Lots of US companies either manufacture in China who put together products from components made in China. This company is selling out of California warehouses. Sort of doubt they would be in business here if they sold cheap off gassing cancerous stock. But here everything is labeled as a hazard. Crazy. Like you said, you are putting them in a beach house. You are not trying to build a showplace kitchen out of them. You want cabinets that look relatively nice and hold things without coming apart. I don't remember the brands but we've used RTA cabs for several projects over the years (last time in a rental) and they have always worked and held up well. But DH is a good detail guy who can make a cardboard box look good. ;-)

We used the Besta as a built in entertainment center in our basement about 5 years ago or so. I love it - I found it very customizable and easy to work with. The pieces are very solid. Our huge TV is sitting on it (not wall mounted) and we have the drawers loaded up with DVDs etc. Nothing is bending or warping. I will say that we also used some low Besta shelves without doors as a sofa table behind the sofa -- the kids kept their lego creations on them. For those shelves, we had trouble with some of the veneer peeling off the edge banding -- I think the kids banged into the front edges of the shelves and nicked it and then it started to peel. We recently put doors on them (another nice thing about the Besta -- you can still buy doors for shelves we purchased 5 years ago and they fit and match perfectly) and that hides the problem (and makes the shelves look nicer too!). But that is the only problem we had with them -- the entire entertainment center is holding up great. I will try to attach some photos -- in the second photo, you can see the low bookshelf pieces that had the veneer problem in the foreground -- basically some of the veneer peeled off the front facing edge of the frames (not the shelves themselves.) And like I said, it could have just been a fluke since nothing has peeled off any of the entertainment center pieces. Overall, I would definitely recommend the system -- it's a great value for the money.
