Purchasing software with errors?

I would appreciate some feedback on a dilemma I am facing with software I purchased recently. I do medical insurance work and have used software for over a year which worked well. Due to Medicare changes, the software redone to reflect these mandatory changes. The newer version had to be purchased to replace the older version. Old customers were given a discount. The new version carried all my patient data over from the older program.

Since using this software, I have run into numerous problems and have contacted the software vendor. They have requested screenshots which I provided. They would then send me downloads to fix the problems. This situation has continued for weeks and now I am told I must search around in the files of this program to delete bad files.

Bottom line is, I feel they released a beta version and charged for a finished product. This back and forth with them has taken so much of my time away from work, and also makes me nervous printing and sending claims and statements because of errors.

I could get my money back (over $500.00), but years of work are in this program and cannot be exported to another program. It would create tremendous hardship for me. I am so angry over all this, I wish I could walk away, but the reality is that I would have to start all over with another company and enter all this data from square one.

They are excusing themselves by comparing their updates to Microsoft's updates. The difference to me is, Microsoft doesn't ask you to search through all their programs to delete all their old stuff in order to update.

Sorry for the rant. Just wonder if anyone has run into something similar.

Jane
