MEEBO appears to be malware, and you probably picked it up from a site you visited or from some other software you downloaded and installed which included this junk. Doing a Google search for "uninstall MEEBO' didn't turn up any easy solutions short of reformatting your computer. The people who created MEEBO apparently make it hard to find and remove. The only thing I can suggest is to run Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware and see if they can detect and then quarantine it. After you try that, report back on your success or failure, please.

yes give malwarebytes a try it may help, download, install update it and run a full scan.

Meebo is a cross platform instant messenger.. well thought of. Does most all of the messengers combined in one interface.

Probably a browser plug in version... look at you browser add-ons/plug-ins/applications. Maybe remove it there.

Some people like it...but it's also well-known for its intrusive adware.

My little adware blocker(peerblock) blocks for all programs.. so I guess when I tried it out I didn't notice that. Sorry.

Should be quite easy to remove though.

the real issue is that the OP did not want or install the item which means it got on her pc some how which tends to make me think something not so up and up.
I have seen Meebo messenger client around for a long time but never had it on any pc, but this seems to be the Meebo Bar which is a different thing, the IM client is listed as Meebo Messenger, they also have on their site a Meebo minibar and Meebo mobile.

Anything being installed on our pc with out our consent or knowledge is invasive at the least.

It may come with some of the social network programs since it seems to be related to that type of activity.

Well I wrote their help desk a polite question on to remove this POS. Ticks me off that it pops up every morning when I am trying to read my newspaper!

I cannot find it anywhere under add-ons in Firefox and under programs so I am stumped.

In internet explorer, open tools, internet options; security tab; select the restricted sites icon; then open the sites button; then add meebo.com

you can add it to the restricted sites on firefox also using an add on called Policy Manager

and you can add it to your hosts list, which should do a good job of blocking it

or if you use firefox with adblock plus you can add a filter to block it. In fact if you are using firefox do you have ad block plus with the easy list added to it? If not that would be the first thing to do that way you get rid of all the annoying ads and possibly it will block meebo if not a filter for it can be used.

It just appeared here too. Angieslist. I do have the Adblock plus and EasyList but it popped up anyway. First in a long time. Anyway, I noticed a "block" option on the upper right just above the add, clicked and it's gone.

the meebo bar and that angies list banner ad are two totally different things.

the ad block plus with easylist definitely blocks the angie's list ad.

I believe from what I have read that it will also block the meebo bar too, but the filter has to be added by using the block tab

You'll notice you do not see it when you go to other sites. There is often a way to minimize the bar (a down-arrow on the right side of the page) - this can be enabled by the owner of the site, so if that is not there, you may wish to request it from the site.

True, I looked at meebo and got the page code and made a sample page to see if it required any local installed stuff & it didnt.

Any webmaster can stick it on any page... primary purpose I guess could be live help.

How to do it on Firefox
Steps:
1.download "ADBLOCK PLUS" from FireFox add-on's,
2. install it,
3. click on ADBLOCK PLUS icon,
4. select PREFERENCES,
5 click ADD FILTER and copy paste this as filter:--> ::meebo.com^ 6. click ok and u are done . re-load the page to validate that it works.

Alternative way:

1.right click on meebo pseudo toolbar
2.select Adblock Plus: block frame
3.select meebo.com^
4.Click Add filter button
5.u are DONE

additionally u can also edit your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file with notepad and add the following line on the bottom of it :
127.0.0.1 www.meebo.com
save the file.

Google bought Meebo and automatically downloads it. I just added Google Chrome and this window started popping up at the bottom of the screen. I cannot find an easy way to delete it since it asks for User ID and password - since I never ordered it, I don't have that info. I HATE the idea that someone can put something on my computer and track my searches. UGH. I want to delete Google everything, but my company uses their email.

why did you add Chrome? don't use chrome remove it and use firefox with adblock plus and easylist you can access the gmail from any browser including firefox.
