Security Settings in IE7?

I don't often use IE, but I do have my ISP's login page as the home page. I cannot access the chart that shows my upload and download usage and get the message that my security settings are too high. When I check, I see that I have Security set to Custom. I'd like to change to the Medium High default setting but the default button is grayed out. I cannot find a way to change this setting. I know it's probably staring me in the face, but it's beyond me at this point. Any help?

Just click above or below the handle on the security level slider.

Mine's at cutstom,,, and that works here to ungray the Default button.

What really has me puzzled, Mikie, is that there is no slider displayed on the Security page. On Privacy there is a slider showing Medium High as my privacy level. There is only the Custom word with instructions to click to change custom settings. However, when I click on "change" a completely blank page comes up and I cannot make any changes, either by typing or clicking something. Also I notice that for any other zone than Internet, I can add or delete sites. The Sites button on Internet Zone is also grayed out, as is the button to reset all zones to default level.

You guys are unbelievable. I found it by following Mikie's directions. Randy, it wasn't listed as Internet Explorer, it was iexplore.exe. Don't know what the he** I did, but I think I know. Went to disk cleanup and noticed an Options tab. It asked if Windows could remove programs I don't use. I said yes. I think it went with a few other things. That's the only thing I can think of. That's what happens when you have too much time on your hands... Thanks a million, Jane

Oh come on mikie...its got problems. I don't know if they have fixed the access to FTP sites or not yet, and there are conflicts with java, and many websites haven't had enough time to adjust to the security changes. Its bigger and prettier and slower. I liked the magnification settings and the spiffy layout...other than that. There wasn't one mod I could download for Morrowind without problems, after the lame rollback ...I could get them. For the amount of money I have to pay Charter and the access I was being denied, it wasn't worth keeping. Why pay for webpages you can't get to, and email that you can barely use? Its just not ready. marf

Comcast is advertising many things but I'll probably leave well enough alone for now. It is your choice to go for IE7 but I understand that many who chose IE7 wanted to go back to IE6. Comcast offers McAfee Security Suite without cost but I'm content with such free stuff as Zonealarm and AVG, along with Spybot, AdAware, and some others that have kept me free from bad guys so far. I do not normally use IE but choose to use the Firefox browser. It will do just about anything I need. Occasionally I must use IE because the websites that I sometimes visit require IE, but it's IE6 that I'm using.

Perhaps try it in control panels - Internet Options.
My next thought would be...
Is your login an Administrator account ?

I solved the problem, but only by uninstalling IE7, checking settings in the restored IE6 (they were all set to Custom), was able to restore IE6 settings to default because the choice was still there. Then, I downloaded IE7 again and installed, and now all is well. I had Googled my problem, but none of the sites I found addressed the particular problem I was having. This took quite a while, but I'm thinking something must have been amiss with either the original installation of IE7 or one of the later updates.

Yes, Mikie, I do have adminstrator rights, but none of the "easy" things would fix it. This is on my laptop, and I checked my desktop and everything was as it should be, with sliders and all.

At least, "ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL".
