New XMAS Additons

The lovely friend of my sons who made me a Christmas cross-stitch last year, surprised me with another one this year.

Also, my little counter vignette got a new cinnamon bun candle (Michaels on clearance $1) and a cute candycane tree (local drugstore $1) almost forgot the cupcake candle, (Gordman's for $3.99)

Then that naughty Karen surprised me AGAIN with another gift!!!! I had mentioned here how much I liked Jeannespines Woodland Santa's and Karen surprised me with one of my own!!!

She also sent along a "friendship jar" that just is adorable, all the little things one needs when having stress!!!

I don't how to thank her, she is just too sweet & giving to everyone!!!!

My sunroom happens to be decorated in Northwoods, so I made a small vignette with my new Woodsy Santa.

Mellen, The box from you arrived today. Wow! I was thinking it was like Christmas morning as I pulled one thing after another out of the box. The only bad part is that I am almost certain that I was here when the mail was delivered (probably around 1:30 or 2 p.m.) and the postal worker did not let me know. They usually beep the horn so you can walk out and get the box. Around 7:30 p.m. I said to my husband that maybe we should check the front porch in case the box came and there it was! My husband was a dear and helped me get the plants either in the ground of in pots for the night. You sent me so many plants that I love, I just hope they settle in okay. I put some water on them even though it was almost dark at that point. Anyway, I can't possibly list it all - Mary Ellen sent a beautiful Christmas ornament decorated with fancy lace that I will certainly keep from year to year. I also got a candle, memo pad, journal, angel plant poke and squirrel pot hanger (these two are so cute!) With the journal, I decided I will try to keep myself a little better organized with my plants and will write it what I received and who it came from. I completely lose track of that. Mary Ellen also was a true treasure as a friend because she had already prepared plant markers with the plants' names to stick alongside them. That is so good. I usually rush to put them in a pot or the ground and think I will remember and do a label later and I don't get around to it and forget the name. (I know no one else does that! LOL) Anyway, as for the plants, I got: Sweet Potato Vine 'Marguerita' (I have two sweet potato vines but didn't have this one), a Polka Weigela - it is a shrub - couldn't believe it when this came out of the box! - a cigar plant, a Sum and Substance Hosta that I have wanted for a few years now, a heuchera 'Chatterbox', two daylilies - Heron, and Custard Candy, and a flowering maple (also called Abutilon - I have a different variety that I bought at the Botanical Gardens plant sale this spring and it bloomed all summer and I love it so I am really happy to have another!) Does anyone grow these? I am wondering how to get more (root or save seeds)? I also wonder if they are winter hardy in our weather. Guess I will do a little research. Anyway, I know I did not list some of it. Thanks so much Mary Ellen. I know you weren't feeling well and I don't know how you put all this effort into the box that you sent. Thank you so much! Hi ya'll...back from the hurricane, I sure missed my internet and phone! I spend a lot of time looking up crafts. I type in what materials I do have, so I don't have to spend much money.I love Martha Stewart,and find lots of ideas there. Just recently found some sachets she did that I want to make. I saw some velvet ribbon bookmarks she did with rubber stamps...I can never have enough bookmarks! The felted wool is so cute,and who hasn't shrunk a sweater they could practice that craft with? lol..I love the purses and little pincushions made from those. And the cupcake pincushions made from chenille. I saved a lounge dress made of lavender chenille, I want to see what I can make of it. The fairy jars I saw some online somewhere,and I copied. I had boxes of the blue jars and zinc lids I bought at yard sales that I could use. I took photos of my grandkids and added wings in photoshop, then used glitter glue pens and rhinestones and cut them out,I curved them a little to go around the inside of the jar by rolling them on something. I placed them against the inside front of the jar, then filled the jar with some blue and some pearly clear Easter grass type filler. I had bought a box of battery operated flickering votives at a yard sale, so I used some adhesive velcro to attach them to the inside of the jar lid. The photo plates were a Christmas gift from my former daughter in law. I gave her some antique white plates she wanted to make photo frames out of. She cut out photos and glued them to the center of the plate, which was beautiful. At the time I was in the middle of making batches of resin spoons, so I asked her if she minded if I poured some over them. Anyway, it came out great, then I used some velvet ribbon,some silk "dried" roses, and some buttons and beads to decorate them with. I sprinkled a tiny bit of glitter in it,too. There are so many projects made from old records and albums. I actually got one purse cut out,but not sewn together yet. I found the clear vinyl at WalMart for $2.57 a yard, where you buy the tablecloth vinyl at. I bought some transparent thread to sew it with, that's the part I'm worried about. I read that if the tension is too tight it will just saw through the vinyl. Let me see if I still have photos of these projects. Maybe someday I'll get that accomplished. Some of you might have a special friend that could use one, so here's the 13 things they contain and the note to go with them.

Friendship Jar

The jar used is fairly small by the way! The heart and
star I put in mine are tiny wood ones from craft store,
The flower is a tiny silk one, and the candle can be little one like you put on a cake or a mini tea light.
I saw this idea some years ago and thought it was a 'keeper'.

Yacht, I'm glad you got the jar and little Santa safely.

I miss crosstitching, that is so sweet of your friend to do that for you. I love your Santa chef with the new candle, too cute, but the rolling pin Santa is my favorite.

That "sexy" Santa chef of yours is really, really looking "SWEET" with all the new treats you added! LOL! I think it's the "white tee" he is wearing...needs the sleeves rolled a bit like my DH's teenage days! LOL! Well...your Santa does have such a cute face!

Yachter, your new additions look wonderful together. Beautiful coss stitch picture your friend made you. Your cupcake candle is the perfect under your dome. I just bought one of those domes for DGD birthday that has Happy Birthday and some presents painted on it today at Ross. Great buys on your new candles.

So sweet of Karen to fill your wish with an adorable Woodland Santa. It looks great in your Northwood collection. The friendship jar sounds like a fun thing to make. Thanks for the poem and help to make these, Karen.

Thanks all for looking, I love the fake pastries in candles, and was so surprised to find some this time of year.

I also love the things Karen has sent me this year, I treasure all of them...

Yacht, I meant to tell you how delightful that counter vignette is with your Chef Santa, and all the other goodies. It would make ol' Scrooge smile!

By the way, I personally liked the way spelled additions.
Your version is PERFECT for us here...Add it ons! LOL
