well she probably does not want to switch over to linux, I love linux but not everyone is ready to make the jump yet. Betty sending the message to microsoft is nothing to worry about that is supposed to aid them in determining when one of their programs is having issues and what triggered the problem. The IE error you posted is a very common one and any number of things can cause it to happen. First do you have all of your windows updates done and up to date? Because when they find problems they do send fixes out through the updates, so make sure you have all of those. Is the error happening on one particular website or is it random and are you doing anything specific when it happens? For example playing a web based game or viewing a video etc. One of the first things to do when IE is involved is to clear your cache and cookies because they could have some bearing on how IE works. So try doing that. in IE go to tools, internet options, clear temporary internet files and cookies, you can clear history also if you wish. See if that helps. Have you thought of downloading firefox browser and using it instead of IE? It is in my opinion a much better browser and is safer. Plus you can add so many great extensions to it. Thanks for your quick response, please bear with me I don't know much about computers (completely self taught, I learn a lot here reading the posts but learning and using are very different.......I'm a newbie.) From trying to research the error I did find out (as you said) that it was related to the ATI Catalyst Driver-Video Card but when I tried to find driver updates at the ATI site I couldn't find the "Radeon Xpress 1100" I'm not playing games when the error occurs. The ati2mtag error comes up several times just from starting the computer.........prior to doing anything except opening System Info. to view the error log. I tried following your first set of instructions - going to Device Manager, Under System devices these controllers were listed: Direct memory access controller Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller Programmable interrupt controller + Universal Serial Bus Controllers .Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller .Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller .Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller in that same section there are 6 entries for PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge I was planning to post back here to find out which of those I was supposed to select but before doing that I made a mistake oops.......right-moused on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller..followed your steps but when I clicked next (expecting to find a box in which to choose the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge) there was no next, a download started.........in seconds the "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" box came up saying "The wizard has finished installing the software for: Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller....The hardware you installed will not work until you restart your computer. Click finish to close the wizard. (no other choices) Restarted computer.....got a new error Source - Service Control Manager Description - The Rogers Update Manager service hung on starting. * I don't think that's a problem but I am concerned about having installed unknown hardware. I've no idea what I've just done or downloaded for that matter. In the vain hope of reversing what I'd done I Tried to do a System Restore.(thinking that would take care of my oops)....it looked like it was doing it, restarted and came up with "Could not restore to system checkpoint....no changes have been made" (System Restore has never worked for me in the past either) I have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 Help, please!!!

fwiw I've run startup repair on win7 a few times. It needs to be run back to back without trying to boot into windows, or it looses count and runs the same first run repair process each time. With my laptop, when startup repair finishes and restarts the computer, then I have to push my boot from cd key quickly again or its lost that ability to count. It would tell you in the reports run once, 2x or 3x. First run is I dont remb, 30 or 40 minutes for win7. Second run is maybe just 2 minutes. Third run would be the same quick, or slighly quicker than 2nd run. And it aways says something about 'startup repair can not repair this computer automatically' I assume it says this because nothing was wrong. I just wanted my partition tables/names microsoft style after using a 3rd party tool to resize partitions.

No help to me at all. Im computer illterate! I dont know what the script and de bugging thing is all about. Everything else works fine,even the site that says theres an error.Nothing seems to be affected,,,I just get the weird error message,
