I'm not familiar with sony but my Toshiba laptop has a Fn+?? keyfunction to switch from the laptop keyboard to an auxillary keyboard. Perhaps you're set on remote keyboard now,,, maybe read your manual to discover that? If you should finally get ready to reload the system new,, which sounds like the easy thing to do, which should also fix your acpi problems,, then you might want to first try deleting the keyboard from device manager while connected to the internet and then refresh device manager so it looks for new devices. Maybe then it will install the keyboard correctly, of course might need your Fn function for the keyboard is in the right mode before doing that refresh.

I have 2 wireless mouses or um mice?? that I really like one is a GE and one is a Gear Head MP2000WU both are the smaller size notebook mouse which I much prefer they just fit and feel better in my hand than the big ones. The Gear Head has the suede feel rubber on the click part of the top and on the sides where you grip it. They both have the small usb receiver that is about the size of a thumb drive or smaller. The GE has a place that opens on the top that the receiver stores in which is nice. One takes AAA one takes AA batteries. I have tried wireless keyboards and no matter the brand I just did not like them, they go through batteries like crazy even the rechargables. GEAR HEAD MP2000WU Mine is all black but it is this one. the dongle for this one is a bit wide and in some cases can partly block the usb port beside it but it does come with a cord to use as an extension if you need it. GE 98792 that is what the GE one looks like, I use it daily it is my main mouse and I love it, nice and small easy to hold batteries last quite well and you can put the dongle inside under the black center part. I have had it and use it daily for a couple years I think, it has never had any problems. oh I just found my mouse in pink, for an excellent price too , it is usually listed around $30 ... I may need this pink one LOL Pink but I see it also comes in blue, mine is silver and black. I had bought a set with a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse but brought it back after a few days, it ate batteries and the keyboard had keys doing kkkkkksssssssss ooooooo etc all the time, Hated it. This one is also a great mouse my husband has it, it comes in handy since he does a lot of conferences and can use the built in laser pointer. It last forever on batteries. Has extra long range. I've had an HP mini for about 2 years and it is a good little computer to slip in my briefcase for a trip or to have handy in the living room without taking up much space (it goes under the couch when not in use). I have other computers that I use for regular word processing or activities that require more power, like photo editing, but for an extra computer it's proved very handy. One caution I have is to look at the keyboard layout of any netbook you are considering. I bought a 10" Dell when they first came out and only realized after I bought it that they moved several of the punctuation keys around to make the keyboard more compact: this makes for a lot more mistakes in typing. Also, some keyboards on a netbook may be just a little too tight for comfortable speed typing, so try it out first if you can. I have not had any concerns with the HP mini as it has a normal layout and is comfortably sized.

A 2014 computer should not have any problems updating to the current version of Mac OS. My 2011 macbook pro would if I would let it. However, you need to be aware that apple has completely changed the underlying file structure of Mac OS in recent updates, so be sure you really want to do this before going the extra mile to make it happen. Make certain any necessary software won't have trouble with the latest version.
