Windows 7 - Live Mail

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 which has Windows Live Mail on it. I set it up but somehow put a capital letter instead of the small letter in my pop server description. I have been trying to go in and change it without success. I can't receive or send mail.

Help! How do I go in to change this?

When mine didn't work I deleted the account and started over. Getting email to work is the most consistently annoying problem I have had with a computer. I know how it is suppose to be set up, but the last time I couldn't get it to work. When I called my server he said it was set up right. Then he took me to the cable's site and to my email accounts walked me through it and he did the same thing I did and it still didn't work. Then he had me delete my ID and my password and retype it. Worked????

have you tried right clicking on that typed item and delete?

what exactly have you done to try to change it? Have you tried hilighting it and then just typing in the correct term right on top of that?
or did you do hilight the term and hit the delete button

Try this: 1. open your start menu and search "cmd" 2. Right click on the search result which should be a program and run as admin 3. when the command box open type "sfc /scannow" 4. Restart the computer after it is done. 5. See if the problem still persists On a side note there is a good chance it might ask for the windows 7 disc if have the appropriate disc pop it in. If not purchase or complain to windows and they might send you the install disc if they are in a really good mood or if you have a friend who has one all the same. All it is really asking for is a comparison. Ultimately, what sfc /scannow does is checks the integrity of windows related files and repairs them if needed. DA, If I'm right in knowing which tension causing member (TCM) you're referring to, I think he is motivated to help and not to cause tension. For some, any difference of opinion causes tension, whether that's intended or not. But paradoxically as your later comment concerning hypersensitivity and PC-ness shows, some differences of opinion can be difficult to wrap in a pillow and so it is. I think TCM tries to be polite. TCM has observed a lot of well-intentioned advice and recommendations in this forum that seem more akin to folk remedies than well accepted, mainstream advice. TCM seems to speak up in such cases, and in doing so perhaps (undeliberately) rattled a few cages of those who had become folk medicine dispensers and followers without knowing it. I think there are some who think some of the PC folk medicine that has been entrenched here is real medicine and some don't know the difference.

I have W 7 and WLM and I direct my server's email through WLM and I don't have any idea why yours does that, mine doesn't. I don't have an account with live, I don't like to join everything, especially social medias. You might try opening your email and the contacts listed there and try to add a contact and see if the same thing happens to it.

E Mail in Picture folder

Hi sewfina, Where is the My picture folder? Click start > right click on "My Pictures" choose properties, tell us the location as listed in the little window that will open, curious about it's location.. Here is where mine is on my machine C:\Users\JOE Seems like the location of My Pictures folder got changed and when you safe old emails, old feeds, old documents, there going in the My Pictures folder...weird.

Thanks for the idea Vala55.

Raven, I went into Accounts, Properties, Server. It showed everything right! I have sc.rr.com but when it shows in a box that I have a problem is shows Sc.rr.com. I also made Windows Live Mail my default mail.

If I delete the account, how do I do that?

Thank you Zep! I read and saved both sites. I will try tomorrow when my brain is fresh.

I had problems with my printer that is only a couple of years old and I worked for hours d/l drivers etc. This morning I looked the printer up and it doesn't work with Windows 7. More to do!
