switching dsl to cable. Modem, router both? which?

Hello all--

OK. I want to switch from DSL, which is rather slow at my address, to cable internet. I am also going to add a Netflix Roku box to the tv (24" CRT). My husband has a Windows Laptop, probably with wireless "g." He is in line to get a new laptop soon, configured by his office, so it might have wireless "n." I have a Mac G5 desktop and a G4 laptop, both with Airport Extreme, which is "g," neither to be replaced soon.

I don't know what to do for a modem and preserve the wireless. Should I let Comcast supply the modem, I don't know which it would be and they don't tell you. I would then attach a wireless router to this modem, correct? Is it better to just get your own equipment --I'm not renting anything. I could buy a combo unit, but it would need several ethernet hole-thingys, in case I want to go with the whole ball of wax and go wireless with the printing. I'd like to wire the Roku box directly.

So-- What cable modem do you think would work, what router, or combo?

Roku has a list of tested modems that work with their box, but others might as well. Searching through the Roku forms for specifics is endless.

Any thoughts as to what I should do?
