Help with virus: Trojan Horse Generice 13.JUM

My computer started acting up the past couple of days, very slow, so I ran my malwarebytes scan that the people who've worked on our computers before, had suggested last year when I had another Trojan virus. It showed up on it last night, and on my AVG scan and I thought I had gotten rid of it but it keeps coming back.

I ran the Malwarebytes again this morning and it doesn't show up. It's still showing up on my AVG scan, though. I was clicking on the "heal" button but the last couple times it's popped up I've "sent it to the vault".

I tried googling this particular virus but there isn't anything that comes up, just another Trojan virus. Can someone help me out? It just popped up again, twice, on AVG. I'm reruning the Malwarebytes because I don't know what else to do right at the moment.

Try running the online scan linked below. You will need to do this using Internet Explorer, it will not run in Firefox.

Let us know what it finds please.

Thanks, Owbist. I read another post on here and decided to see if there was an upgrade to the Malwarebyte scan and there was, then I ran it again in the safe mode. I think it worked. So, far it hasn't popped up again.

Annette: Your post made me laugh- a lot of those posts sound like Chinese to me, too. That's why I leave computer maintenance issues to my husband. He's really good with this stuff but since it won't connect to the internet it has been tough. Also, he only has so much time to spend on it. My husband probably won't let anyone work on that PC because he has a lot of sensitive stuff on there- not only our own but sometimes that of employees of his company, too. He has at least started to back of some of the information in case he wipes out everything to reinstall the system. That PC is 3 years old so he says the easiest, cheapest, best thing to do might be just to replace the computer. Fran, I did go to the computer help forum. My husband had already tried all of the suggested fixes except one, which didn;t work when he did try it. So we're right back where we were last Thursday when infected. I'm not very good with this laptop,either. I can't even type on this flat keyboard. Karen

Most things that pop up in that type of environment are going to be harmful. If you are using Firefox I would suggest installing Adblock Plus (link below). It allows you to stop the downloading of ads on sites you are on. Those ads take a long time to display quite often, and this lets you disable them. no no you do not clean anything with hijack this you must go to the landzdown forum that was listed and start a thread there in the hijackthis area then post your results from hijack this there in your post, also tell them everything you have done they will come and help you with step by step directions, the hijackthis produces a log file that is what you need to post there for them to review so they know what steps to take, the team there is one of the best on the net so be assured they will help you but it takes time it is not a one deal cure all it is a step by step proceedure. Just tell Corrine that I and Zep sent you there and you can also link back to this thread here so they can see this info. zep, Thanks for the response. Both Trojans are in the virus vault. Under the Original Name, it shows N/A. I got a Mutiple Threat Dection earlier from AVG, I clicked on Remove all Unhealed, then it said the action was unsuccesful. Object does not exist or is inaccessible. I ran AVG again, still in the Virus Vault. I ran Malwarebytes and it shows nothing either. Looks like I am good to go. Thanks again, Steve

yes Kathsgrdn always update malwarebytes or any program prior to running the full scan there usually will be new definitions to pick up and running in safe mode is a great idea many times the trojan or malware has processes running that prevent it from being cleaned and in safe mode much less is running.

If you need more help just come on back and ask.
Also a good idea is to reboot after those scans, many times in fact malwarebytes will say something about clean after reboot.

I agree with Raven on scanning in Safe mode rather than in normal mode. As I understand it Windows prevents scans from looking inside Restore points, using safe mode overcomes that problem.

Nice to read that you now have a clean computer.
