Help with Outlook Express

Lots of frustration here.......have been having this problem for about 2 weeks. It was a perfect storm.....really a storm. Heard lightening hit in the back of the house and it fried modem. Could not access internet, Using Bellsout.net. Ordered a new modem, figuring lightening had gotten it. (red light on modem) Added new one and not able to connect on DSL line. Then purchased a new ethernet card and my Son put it in my Gateway. Was able to connect then and I thought life was good. Using Outlook Express for email. Started sending out duplicate emails.....like 20 repeats. Read online that the possible cause was too many emails in folders. I deleted all. Then for a couple of days it was fine. OE would start to duplicate emails ONLY if I added an attachment. ????

Now it is back to repeat messages. They will be duplicated not only in OE but also in ATT Webmail. If email is originated in webmail no repeats....only in OE.

Vista on a Gateway

I would love to know how to fix this problem as it's driving me crazy. Can't seem to find an answer on the web.

BTW......I'm not in GA anymore if that matters. I'm in the beautiful mountains in TN.

Would sing at your next wedding if you can help.

Hallelujah......I deleted the temp files and compacted the email folders......seems to be working. At least I only got my test message once.

With MS Office 2007 or 2000 just open Outlook and the setup window appears. Probably the same for other versions. Follow along and at some point you will probably be asked if you wish to make Outlook your default mail handler.

I have just loaded Outlook on a new notebook, Outlook 2002. I've used this version of Outlook since 2002, but alas that notebook did a big crash. The good news, I had all but the last two days of message folders on a back up drive, in a folder called "Exchange". Now, on my old XP home there was a folder called "OutlookFolders" which had "Exchange" and other details in it. So, all I need to do is copy the back-up data into the new computer's "OutlookFolders", but I can't find them, nor can the XP search. I do have folders maked to shoe hidden. Any help would be appreciated.

Take a moment and disable your anti-virus. Then send yourself a test email with a small amount of text content. Maybe a small paragraph or so. Any change. Following the test, please remember to enable your AV. DA

lol. I replied with IE instead of OE. Nothin' wrong with me that a brain transplant wouldn't help, lolol. Tks again, Bob. I think I might download OE7. We had RoadRunner cable who was bought by Comcast. Now I have to go to their website to get my email and having a dickens of a time trying to get it changed to OE. One of their questions via chat online was which version of OE I had, hence, the question. Sometimes creating world peace is easier than getting things changed on the computer. At least for me.
