New Samsung Counter Depth FD

Has anyone seen the new Samsung Counter Depth FD refrigerator? The model number is RFG237AARS. It was supposed to be released at the same time as the RFG298AARS. People on this site has seen the RFG298, but I am interested in the counter depth RFG237. Anyone out there???

We have seen the counter depth SXS, RSG257AARS, and we really like it.

I'm also interested in this model. The major differeces, besides the obvious storage volumes, are no icemaker in the freezer compartment and external icemaker having no cubed and crushed option (I assume only cubed?).

If going with GE would go with GE Energy Star refrigerators, green friendly. I am more of Whirlpool, Frigidaire fan these refrigerators have longevity and good warranties and good after warranty service as I found out a while back. I have a Brandsource store near me when my old Inglis refrigerators finally dies not sure why they are hard to find, I will replace it with a Whirlpool or Frigidaire. But ultimately the choice is yours.

We have the GE French Door w/ 2 Freezer Drawer Fridge w/ water dispensor in the door (PGSS5PJXSS) . So far we really like it (was installed in June). Can't comment on the energy consumption as we have balanced billing and even if we didn't I don't think I be able to sort out any change that was due to the fridge only vs. all the other new kitchen appliances we have. Fridge has lots of room and I am glad we steered clear of ice dispensor in door as that takes up most of the storage in one of the doors. Bob

Sincere thanks to everyone who posted threads and pics to help the spatially challenged! Sombreuil and Cawfeegirl, your kitchens are beautiful! The wall into which our fridge would have to be recessed is on the exterior of the house, and we live in a pretty cold climate, so the whole concept may be a non-starter. We may have to make the style of handle a bigger issue than something like that should ever be, just trying not to protrude any further than necessary. Either that, or it's back to the drawing board to reconfigure the design yet again!

We looked at this one, but did you check the measurements? It's actually a 28" deep fridge, which is why the capacity is so much higher than all the other counter-depth fridges even with the water/ice dispenser. Kitchenaid makes a 70" tall counter-depth fridge that was our choice until we realized we could go with a 33" deep fridge due to some strange wall configurations in our kitchen. It's the same fridge sold under different names and different trims, I believe Jenn-Air, Whirpool, and others.

I'm searching for the RFG237 or the RFG238. Both are counter depth and I can't find them displayed anywhere.

My first posting here, but I was so excited when I saw this post because we've decided on a Samsung fridge, just trying to figure out which one. Why do they always have to have external water and/or ice? We're building a new house (should be finished end of September and I'm so excited!!) so we need to decide on a fridge soon.

We like the dual-evaporator thing Samsung does but we don't want the external dispensers because they increase the energy usage, take up too much space and really up the cost. I think we're going with the RF217ABPN but wish we could find something a little closer to counter depth. There's only the 2 of us (and 3 cats but they don't get to use the fridge, haha!) so we don't need it to be too big.

We are about to buy the counter depth FD model - probably within 10 days....my DH asks for very little, but he did want the external ice/water dispenser, so we'll have less cold storage. I have to say though, I do like the blue temp display on the dispenser. We have an extra refrigerator in our laundry room and will probably get a small chest freezer for the garage, so hopefully that will address any food storage issues.

I'll post back when we get it up and running (in several weeks after my kitchen is done) and let everyone know what I think.
