Too long respond?

One of the forums I visit daily has been inaccessible for about a week now.

Here is the message on my screen:

"The connection has timed out

The server at www.farmallcub.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few

moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure

that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

No other site has this problem for me. A neighbor with the same ISP as mine is able to access the site without problem. I have not knowingly made any changes to my computer. Is the problem within my computer? How to correct? The link to the site is below.

Did you try Internet Explorer or another browser? I can reach the site okay.

No problems here. If you haven't try with a different browser. Or clear your browser's cache and history.

Been fine here too. Slow at 8am, but thats due to high use and my ISP not dealing with it well. It could be that they do backups at very early hours in the morning, as that can slow things a bit too.

Actually I looked at your house and the comps and I think yours shows pretty well compared to most of them. Some are clearly estates with no updates, most have things that some buyers don't like, like multiple wallpapers, most have carpeting instead of hardwood in the LR. Your blue carpet is a negative, but there are similar negatives in almost all the other comps, I think. But--there are about 70 listings in your area and a little over a dozen that are almost identical on paper, including price. It appears that there may be a lot to choose from in your target market. I agree with the other comments: Reduce the number of Kitchen photos to maybe two good ones. The LR photos are very unflattering and make it look crowded. Take some things out at least for the photos. Show the bathrooms even if they are old. Not showing them makes people suspect the worst. Get them to take some of the pictures without the fishbowl effect. I don't know that your agent can pester other agents into providing feedback. My Realtor who has been in the business for 30 years and is a top seller in good markets and bad (I am in Philadelphia area, too), said the business has changed a lot in the past ten years. She feels that in this area a lot of people became real estate agents in the booming period when houses were selling themselves, and they didn't have to do much, including being polite to sellers or other agents--or do much "work" to sell a house. So while it used to be standard to leave a business card at the house, follow up with feedback and other niceties (and this was more work before everything was online), she feels that a lot of people who got into the business when it was easy, don't really like it now that its harder. For agents who may be reading this and thinking, that real estate is Always hard work, I agree, in most areas it is. But here, especially when prices are up, you can make a livable income selling a few houses a year. I had one agent repeatedly not show up for appointments. Once he showed up about 5 hours after he was scheduled. I asked the Realtor if this agent could be Not allowed to make appointments, and she said in a fast market, maybe you could do that, but in a slow market you are hostage to the unprofessional agent and the potential buyer, no matter what a pain they are.

This is the kitchen that has been in my brain for at least 10 years, and here you have gone and done it perfectly!!! I'm going to Pinterest the bejebbers out of it as inspiration photos for the coming renovations (as soon as I finish all these pesty bathrooms!). Seriously, I have wanted a 4 oven Aga plus a module for ages. I already have the full 601 fridge & freezer (so a little bigger than your Subzero.) And I plan to put a big barrel hood over it all. And you have a big island with not huge aisles! And you have soapstone! I really think we're channeling the same frequencies. I'm totally in love with your butler's pantry! We didn't inherit one, but I may use the cabinet sliding door idea for the walk-thru pantry I'm planning. It solves my problem of a tight space and not really wanting all open shelves! I have a 2008 Dell desktop running Vista with 3 GB memory. It ran great until last year when it too began running slow with multiple script errors and has become unusable with either IE9 or Firefox. The multiple technologies that make web pages run these days (Flash/Java and whatever) plus the ever increasing need for security have...in my opinion...put a huge squeeze on computers with limited memory, especially computers running Windows. No offense, but trying to run Win7 with only 2 GB was already razor thin to begin with. New computers are routinely being offered with 8-12-16 GB for this reason....2-4 just isn't going to get it done any more. I fully expect my new Dell with 12 GB will be pushing the limits of what it can do in about 4 years. A Win7 machine that was sold with 2 GB is probably running the 32-bit version of Windows, and that is also limiting you severely. I have had some luck running the Maxthon Browser on the old Dell. No guarantees, but you don't have much to lose by trying it. If you are stuck using your current setup, you're just going to continue having more problems. A light-weight Linux OS such as Xubuntu might extend the lifespan of this computer if you're willing to give it a go, but I don't recommend such things for the casual Windows user. Whenever you are able, a new Win8.1/10 would probably suit you much better. Here is a link that might be useful: Maxthon

Do as MK says and empty your browser cache. Cookies can expire or corrupt.

Also, if you are trying to access the site via a bookmarked entry use Google to locate the site instead. If successful then delete the prior bookmark and create a new one. Sometimes bookmarks corrupt, expire or are slightly altered by the website..

"browser cache". Not exactly sure that this means. I deleted all history. The link I posted on this forum is from my bookmark results on Firefox, copied and pasted from the toolbar. I tried Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer 64 bit, used Bing for search, same URL resulted and site inaccessible. I have Windows 7, Home Edition.

Reboot router or modem if you use them, If that fails try below too.

Copy the bold text above and paste it into Notepad. In Notepad click file and:

browser cache would mean cookies, temp internet files, history, in IE internet options under tools then delete temp files clear history clear cookies or use a program that will do it for you like ATF

your link addy works fine for me with firefox in linux.

having another browser on any pc is advisable so that if IE fails and it does you still have a way to access the internet. I use firefox all the time on my computers many great add ons for it.

My modem is DrayTek Vigor 2500. Rebooting the modem is turning it off and then on after a minute or so?
I use Mozilla for my browser 99.9% of the time and Google is the default search. I will try the suggestions as time permits.

I turned off the modem and did some other things for a half-hour before turning it on again. It now works! I do not understand why the modem was the problem, but unquestionably it was.

anytime you run into problems you are not sure how to fix one of the first things to try other than of course a reboot of the pc is a power down of the modem, router and all things connected. Usually wait about 5 mins or so then the power up sequence should be first the modem let it get fully up, then power up the router let it get fully up, then your computers. That will flush out the info and let it get new info which will often times be the solution.
