Music/talking as like a radio playing?
What were you doing on the computer when this happened?
How often is it occurring and which program was being used?
Anyone else other than the usual users had access to the computer, like grand children?

When I opened internet explorer it just starts playing sometype of radio station. Scares the you know what out of me! Nobody uses the computer except hubby and me.

Occasionally at night a man's voice comes from my husbands speakers. It's very disconcerting when I'm in this room alone. However, the neighbor next door is a ham radio operator so we think he is the source of the voice. Perhaps someone in your neighborhood has something that interferes with your computer.

Talk to the Amateur operator and he may be able to advise on a filter to eliminate your voice/music problems. Bear in mind that it's not his equiptment that is causing it. I get annoying noises from my speakers and TV if I leave my cell phone turned on,so I leave it off. Is your set-up a wireless one? Grady

It could be his equipment, or should I say the use of his equipment. Some ham operators have been known to "boost" the power of their units above the ceiling limitations set by the FCC.

My dad used to blare through my pc speakers... especially when he was tuning up ,,, Heeeeelllloooo. Neighbors would complain too.

I've noticed in Vista that win media player, any audio its playing if not stopped before closing the media player window,, that music will keep on playing until the end of the file. So I would imagine if you listened to a 'radio station' on win media and simply close media player that you might have that radio station playing until a reboot.

Please let us know if rebooting solves the problem, and if any other odd things are occurring...

If all else fails to solve the problem try muteing your audio and use only when required. I mute mine to keep the Cellphone interference away. Grady

Grady and DA, we said something to him several years ago when we thought his radio was interfering with the computer. He toned it down. His wife died not long ago and I'm not going to complain this time. It doesn't happen that often and he is a good neighbor.

Nice thinking Gmom. If you have a good neighbour that can make life good and if the annoyance is minimal and you can live with it that is great.

At least now you are reasonably sure where the sounds originate and you have no bogeymen on the computer LOL

I have a follow up question to this: My 80 year old aunt received her first computer this fall and is doing great with getting acclimated to using a computer. However, she live in Pennsylvania and I am in Indiana so when she has a problem we have to solve it through email. Here is her latest email message: WHAT HAPPENED I OPENED A CHRISTMAS CARD WHICH HAD PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AND SINCE THEN EVERYTHING I OPEN THAT HAS MUSIC IS PLAYING ON TOP OF WHATEVER ELSE IS ON THERE. IT'S A JUMBLE OF SONGS THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY SO I JUST TURNED THE VOLUME OFF COMPLETELY. HELP, HELP, HELP.

I told her to delete the original email and any others that are playing music and try to reboot. However, if what the first poster is saying is true, will we have to go in and find the file that the music is on and delete it? How would I go about finding this file? Any help would be appreciated. also try doing a control+alt+delete and look at what it shows running see if there is anything there other that what you know should be running and end task on it, say if you only have Ie open and it shows something else also.

and really urge her NOT to open any of those kinds of emails and links those are notorious for carrying bad malware and viruses.

You could set up a remote link into her pc and be able to work on it from your home.

team viewer is one such program there are various ones some free some pay but it makes it easier than trying to do it through email or on the phone.

If you are comfortable around a computer then I agree with ravencajun on using Teamviewer. It is a great program giving you total control of the remote computer, even allowing a re-boot and continued access. I use it along with Skype so I can talk to the owner of the computer explaining what I am doing and why. This not only helps them understand but can help allay any fears you may mess their computer up.

For simple stuff just using Skype is good because you walk the other person through making them do the work and getting them more at ease with the intricacies of these magnificent machines.

that is so funny. last night i heard people talking, sounded like they were out side. it was so real i got up and walked through the house to make sure it was secure. LOL
