Since the plant must drain, the closure of the drainage hole(s) by its roots must be seen as trouble. It does appear the plant is crying out for a re-potting and since it is causing problems, the need to wait until spring sunshine is not what it should be waiting for; re-pot now. Make sure the soil drains well...but does retain some moisture. For that, possible use of a heavier than usual percentage of peat moss might be considered. It holds on to moisture longer and mixed with any of the good mediums....vermiculite, coarse sand, perlite and potting soil/mix the plant might do better. Repotting of course is going to show what extent the roots are in. If you are considering a total re-soiling, then I suggest you remove all the old soil, wash the roots clean and inspect for any sign of damage there. A barrier between the drainage holes and the soil will prevent somewhat the reoccurrence of the roots making it to the drainage holes. Stones of size, or shards of clay might be used. I like the broken clay shards because they leave important spaces so that water can drain well, yet block the path of soil that can plug up the hole. Go up one size only...repotting to a pot too large for the roots---even tho they have expanded--can cause future problems. Its alright to remove what roots are superfluous. Ferns, generally all, like their water and they can sometimes drop a measure of debris that makes the plant or the floor its sitting on, unsightly. But, in winter, even ferns don't grow all that much and need less water. A constant vigil by testing the soil dampness is one way to avoid underwatering/overwatering. Ferns too appreciate light....just not direct light. Give your plant more than usual at this time but give it a filter when the time comes the light intensity resumes. Mid February is the time we usually allow that plants begin to start growing. Its the time that geraniums and their ilk, come out of their cool storage to resume their voyage to summr sun. Until April tho, the sun takes its time to come up to light that influences greatly plants in windows and on window sills. Common sense should prevail. When it does begin to put on new growth in earnest, the time to begin feeding can resume. Fertilize every 3rd or 4th watering.

Yeah, don't get the money tree! I'm superstitious too! No, jades aren't only given as presents (although I do admit I make plants out of my rooted cuttings and give them away!). I have a huge (almost 3 feet tall) jade. They are gorgeous. If you buy a big enough jade (I've seen ones in stores with many many woody branches, and it looks like some were in 8" pots), you should be fine with the size pot you have for a while. They like snug roots, so you'll have some time before you'll have to go up in pot size. As for the Moonshine, an 8" pot is perfect. Mine is in a 6" pot, but I'm sure I'll have to go up in size soon. You can always buy a moonshine in a smaller pot (whatever size it comes in) and use your pot as a cache pot (decorative pot to place the ugly plastic one in). If you never had a jade, you MUST get one! Even if you use another pot...it's just such a great plant. Enjoy plant shopping...wish I could tag along, but I think going to a nursery in England would put me over the edge of sanity.

ally, when spraying keep them out of full sun. If using the soap, try to find castile soap and do not use heavy scented ones...Aphids usually can be sprayed off with just plain water, but maybe the infestation is just too heavy or maybe not all aphids? I would def try plain water first.

I don't believe it is oedema. I don't think it is sunburn either - but possibly. At least on first plant. Ppl posted photos of similar damage, and it is likely caused by something chewing on it while still younger. Those 'bites' have scabbed over. As the plant grows, rosette opens up more and damage is more visible. You can see it is sort-of regular. Very young growth is usually most juicy/succulent, and it is often first to be chewed on. One doesn't have to see the bug or pest for it to happen...and just because other succulents were not damaged, it doesn't mean it didn't happen to this one. I actually witnessed this to happen. As Dominyka said, those leaves will eventually grow out, and plant will look better. April If you don't mind here is a suggestion: hope those metal tins have drainage hole(s). If not, they should be drilled or poked in. And if possible, top up the potting mix so the plants are not so deep inside of them. Metal heats up more than terracotta (didn't compare it to plastic); and plants are even 'hotter' if they are deeper inside. And it restricts air circulation too.
