I just printed the online newspaper PDF crossword puzzle!!!

It's 2:37 AM and I finally managed to print the crossword from my online PDF newspaper! I kept reading the responses to my request for directions to copy and print only the crossword from a newspaper page. After reading that the snapshot button was on the Adobe PDF reader I ditched the PDF X-Change I had switched to and went back to Adobe. I had to hunt but I eventually found the snapshot tool to add to my choices. Thanks everyone for the input. Computerdyslexic that I am, I needed tons of help to accomplish what grade school kids can do easily. I am grateful that if I had to be afflicted with computer dyslexia I retained my sometimes annoying personality quirk of hating to give up. I have a new skill!!!!

Congratulations! I followed your previous post and know the frustration of following directions and coming up with...nada. There's a satisfying sense of accomplishment when that eureka moment occurs and the problem is solved. Sorry your moment came at the untimely hour of 2:37 A.M. - hard to share the joy with anyone at that hour!

This forum is great, isn't it? So many helpful, knowledgeable, and patient contributors. It's the first one I click on each A.M.

As I just posted in your other thread there is a 'snapshot' tool in the PDF Exchange Reader. It is a little camera icon almost under the help button.

there are many really good useful screen capture free programs out there, bobs link to those at gizmo provides several of the top choices. Many have the editing stuff all built in to them. On my linux I have one called ksnapshot which is so easy to use wish they had just that item for windows. On windows I have used a few including the gadwin program and I have used this one Screenpresso logo and the picpick one mentioned at the gizmo site. I had no idea the pdf select tool would not work on some items. That is strange. on the ones y'all tried it on had you actually saved the pdf file to your pc or were you viewing the pdf file from the online site? just wondering if that would make any difference. I have never encountered that problem.

I go to a handful of different places almost every day and print out crossword puzzles. NYT puzzles will cost ya for their daily but on Monday' you can get 3 free ones from their archives. The "Universal" crossword is in a lot of different papers daily. I go to The Washington Post, USA Today and LA Times all the time.

I enjoy the Herald Tribune, Crossword Puzzles Only, "challenging puzzles" crossword books. I used to buy them from the magazine and newspaper shop because they were the only ones to carry them regularly. But often the books sold out, so I would have to hunt them down all over town sometimes to no avail. Finally I opted for a subscription to the book - expensive at $41 a year. I get one appx. every other month. However, I mostly enjoy doing the larger puzzles of 127 and up clues in back so I do those and leave all the smaller puzzles in the front of the book thinking I'll get to those someday. Well, now I have a stack of crossword books that will last me a long time to come. It was just more convenient to subscribe.
