Do you know the name of the file that is missing? Are you sure that is the only one? Did you get more than one recovery CD when you bought the computer? Perhaps there is a second CD with those needed files and you are trying the wrong CD. During start up with the CD in the drawer does the CD player activity light appear for quite a while suggesting the CD is being read? You might consider putting the CD in the computer you are using, stop the auto start as it occurs, then use Windows Explorer to verify you have the right CD. When you entered the BIOS you tried to change the sequence to CD then hard drive then floppy. Did you hit F10 to save and exit? If not then were you prompted to save the changes and did you follow along? Seems like you may have exited without saving the changes.

I also did not want to mess too much with my windows so when I boot my machine I immediately hit the Esc key which takes me to the boot order screen and there I select the one I want to boot too, if I don't do that it will default to windows and boot right up to windows. So I only have to access that menu if I am booting into the linux drive. May be weird to some but it works fine for me just one little extra step to take in the bootup for linux. When I select the drive with linux then it begins that boot process, says loading grub and then up comes my Mepis. My linux guru was here visiting last year and that is when we tackled installing the new hard drive, I was glad he was here! I am not very good at that kind of stuff so he handled most of the process. for those considering linux you might check your area to see if there are any Linux user groups or LUGs around that is an excellent way to meet linux users and get hands on help. You can look them up online using google. Mint is a good choice for new users, not sure if openSUSE would be. if you go to distro watch they list all the flavors and you can click on each and get some info on them. I also love the coding studio site, you can click on each distro and see it in pictures, they have changed the site and it is not as good as it used to be but still ok. For most computers tapping the delete key immediately after the POST beep will bring up the BIOS. I think HP require you to tap the F2 key, try either. Once in the BIOS just take a look across the top of the page, different BIOS have different setups of course. But you see BOOT or similar, use your keyboard arrow keys to navigate. On any header you tap 'Enter' to bring the page up. Once you have found the boot sequence page use the down arrow keys untill you highlight your choice then use the plus or minus key to make the change. Once satisfied tap the F10 to save and exit, you will need to agree this is the move you want. The computer will then restart seeking the selected drive. These instructions will either appear to the right or underneath once in the BIOS> Don't be afraid of the BIOS but do not change anything you do not understand. Changing the boot sequence is harmless and will add mere seconds to a normal startup so there is no need to reset the boot order.

You can do it either way; it's a personal preference thing (as long as you make sure your cabinet people knows which way you're doing it and whether they need to prepare anything special). We are doing the floor ourselves and have a cabinetmaker. He gave us the choice---basically, if we do it first it's easier to lay the floor but there is the risk of damage to it when the cabinets are installed, though obviously we'll cover it. If we do it last, there is more cutting involved and the cabinets either need to be on a platform the same thickness as the floor or the boxes need to be built slightly higher to compensate for the thickness of the floor. We opted to do it first because we're tiling under appliances that will later be surrounded by cabinets, so it seemed far simpler to do it that way. But unless one or the other of your contractors feels strongly about it, it's up to you. I don't think it makes much difference in replacing the floor later, though. I've seen people leave cabinets with flooring under them in place and just cut out and replace the center floor. Either way your cabinets will be at floor height---it's just that if they don't have flooring under them, they'll have plywood or something comparable.
