Interesting link. That explains a lot about Delta. Everything they are associated with is bottom quality stuff....AquaGlass, Merillat, etc. I have these in my home and I would never buy that junk again. Behr paint was like painting with KoolAid.

Moen...worse than Delta. Sorry, but every Moen in our house has been replaced over the past 14 years.

My Kohler and Grohe are the quality faucets in my house.

You're welcome! That builders website (link I found in someone else's forum post here) is so helpful. After reading it I looked at Toto faucets and Hamat faucets and got one of each and love them. It was hard to believe how expensive a bathroom faucet could be but it shows you get what you pay for. The plumber call to replace a Moen every 5 years or so would really add to the cost of a less expensive faucet.

susanlewis: I'm so surprised to see your feedback about the Moens. We too have them all throughout our house and love them. Can you provide a little detail on the problems you've encountered other than just having to replace them?

Thanks for the kind words from many of you about our faucet ratings. We try very hard to keep them current and relevant.

Please keep in mind that a diverse company like Moen is likely to make many grades of faucet, including some that are best left decorating the shelf at the plumbing store. I suspect, without really knowing, that the problems you are having with Moen are problems with the original builder's faucets. These are generally not of the best quality. Beware of any faucet costing less than $100 (unless you have found a whale of a sale), no matter what the brand. These are downscale faucets, often containing many plastic parts, and they will not last a lifetime.

We use a lot of Moen, but we are careful which Moen we use. The article and its associated text explain how to test a faucet for quality. Always test, even if the thing costs $1000.00. There are some bad $1000,00 faucets.

I too have seen, in the same house, some great Moen and some lousy Moen. The lousy Moen was supplied by a plumber, so that makes it one case where the plumber did not have access to better product...

But, how does one "Test" plumbing fixtures?
With showroom stores, the fixtures cannot be returned after they're installed.

Is this the final frontier, in terms of customer service?
Is it asking too much, to see real water running in a tap?
Should we be asking everyone to post on Youtube a video of their faucet running?

Speaking of Moen (but not of faucets specifically), on the basis of a single data point, I sing the praises of Moen customer service. We purchased a Moen brand showeread (Velocity 6320) from Amazon.com on which the lever for switching from drench mode to concentrated power spray mode did not function properly. Not knowing for certain (because we had never used that model showerhead before) if the problem was operator error, we sent an inquiry -- just an inquiry -- to Moen Customer Service by email, and promptly received back by FedEx Overnight a brand new showerhead. Customer service like that should be rewarded, and -- as I am doing right now -- I am doing my part to spread the news of great customer service by Moen.
