My village is finally done ( I think) so would you'll like to take a stroll through it......

Wow, Lynne, you have some very beautiful village pieces and have arranged them so prettily. I can't pick a favorite. Thank you for sharing your villages with us.

thank you Sandi - the houses in the last picture (bookcase villaage) is just a few of about 40 other pieces like them that I had painted over the years. I just didn't have a place to put all them up this year. The moonscape and pieces in that picture I also hand painted. The rest are a mix of Dept 56, Lenox, and just buildings I have picked up after Christmas on sale. I am still hoping one day to have a Christmas room where I can set them all up again....

Hi Laura, sorry I missed your post, you posted just 1 minute before I made my post haha! The beaches in bermuda were definitely the nicest I have ever seen. There were plenty of large rocks around the beaches, but the sand itself was really soft and fine. The beaches around my area dont compare at all! Definitely one of my favorite vacations even though I was only there for 5 days. My plumerias are doing really well. The cuttings you sent me are growing really well, the Scott Pratt is doing especially well, it put out a ton of growth this summer. The California sunset is doing well too, but I think I will give it more sun so it grows a little faster! My largest plumeria is approaching 13 feet tall (pot included) and is now the tallest tropical plant in my yard (even larger than the Adondila I bought!)so it's going to be a real challenge finding a place for that one inside. It has 3 inflos on it now but I can only take pictures of the blooms from my upstairs window! It's about a week or 2 away from blooming. Looks like it's going to have to get cut back next spring as much as I hate having to do that to my plumerias! I havent posted too many pics of my plumerias this year because they all bloomed so well last year that this year there have been barely any blooms at all. My plumeria Divine put out 2 flowers from the inflo that it made indoors and it is just now starting to make another inflo. My Pretty Princess has always been a late one to bloom and it's inflo is still a good month away from blooming. I hope it blooms before it's too late! Hopefully it will be a warm fall and nmaybe next summer the plumerias will all have enough growth to bloom like crazy again. I hope your plumerias and tropicals are all doing well! -Alex

Andrea - Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures. I love all of them, but there are a few I have always wanted to try myself and yours are gorgeous, Mojave, Mikado and Mon Cheri. Your St. Patrick really is green, it looks pretty though. I like your Dick Clark, I planted an own root one this spring and am glad to know yours is doing good.

Bob, I can't even find how to play much less download songs! I downloaded the program and when I open it from my desktop it is a complicated looking thing that looks like a soundboard with lots of options. As for the $10, I can't find that now. It was there before I downloaded it, it never asked for payment, but it downloaded this screen that I can't figure out. Raven, I read all those links, but none say that I can download music. Is Audacity maybe not what I am looking for? I want a program that I can legally pay a price to download as many songs as I want. I thought that Audacity was what I needed, but maybe not.

Kswl, I usually end up not taking pictures of people that interest me and regret it. I have strong memories of those un-taken pictures. When we were in Puerto Rico a few years ago there was this young women at the bus stop with very strong classic American Indian features and she wore what looked like colorful rags sewn together. The expression on her face was so detached and distant. During this trip we were in a small village where I came upon a very elderly lady that seemed to be dressed in old fashioned mourning clothes. She was sitting on a bench with a pile of leather bound books bent and reading. The only color was her two mismatched knee high compression hose stockings in bright opaque. Both of those un-taken pictures really told a story and would have been great fun to try an paint. I'm going to try hard not to ignore photo opportunities that inspire me in the future. Sounds like your architecture pictures inspires you. Have you had any framed for your walls?

Lynne, They are all just beautiful. I didn't realize you had painted any of them yourself. You did a beautiful job. And I hope you do get your Christmas room. Wouldn't that just be wonderful!

And I have to say...I keep going back to the moonscape picture. It grabbed my attention quickly. It reminds me of a scene in an old country village. Beautiful.

I am cheating a little here - this is another village from 2005 - it shows more of my hand painted buildings. In fact all the pieces in these two pictures have been hand painted incl the people. Please excuse the tipsy houses and light poles - this village was regularly visited by Catzilla

Lynne, One picture is worth a thousand words! LOL I thought it was cute to name your baby "Catzilla". but the pic of him towering over the village had me hysterical. I even called my son in to look. That is just too funny.

And your villages are beautiful.

WOW, and WOW. Oh,WOW. You have a great village set up.
Naturally the moonscape caught my eye really fast. Not just cause of the moon, LOL, but the unusual road and tunnel and everything. I just love it. I even have a similar moon, only mine is actually a nightlight and not painted like yours. My moon is just a soft gold color. I bet it would look neat in a village background anyway tho.
So you gave me a great idea for NEXT year. Along with how to do all the great levels like you've created.
That's just the "bestest" village and I'm sooo jealous.
I did miss my farm so much that I set up a little table next to my village one and got out my farm afterall. Thank goodness for white sheets . I'll post a photo later when I get it uploaded.
Your village cats are a crack-up. Mine are being extremely good for some reason. None IN the village, however things on the edge occasionally disappear and I have to a search and rescue for them. A hedge and picket fence are favorites apparently for my Thief in the Night. My DH was cracking up the other morning when he walked in to me on my hands and knees, looking under things and yelling "Ty, where the h--- did you hide my squirrels on stump". (I finally found it)
I'm saving your photos for inspiration. Thank YOU for the great ideas. Your painting is fantastic, and all your accessorizing as well. I love, love, love it.

Very beautiful display of Christmas villages indeed. It must be so much work however, and a lot of space to store?! :-)

Wow, Lynne, what's the population of your village? :-) You've got quite a budding metropolis!

What a lot of work you put into it! I like, too, that you've added topography-- hills, cliffs, etc., to it.

The second set of pics with the grand entrance of the cats made me laugh out loud. It was so NOT what I expected to see coming. The proportions are hilarious.

You did a fabulous job with your houses. I know that is hard work as I did it myself for many years. The pictures with the cats are priceless.

Wowser,that's the best village i've seen in a very long time.For some reason i really like the Computor room one.It looks so serene and looks like the time of day when it is getting dark.

I don't know about those cats though,i think if i put that much work into something,the cats would be banned from the house.Easy for me to say as i don't have any cats anymore.

You did a wonderful job with it all.TFS

I've always loved miniatures and have made some miniature houses in the past so your village really spoke to me. The red fence with the candy canes is my favorite. I may have to copy that idea. : )

My DH and I are cracking up over the cats in the village. Too funny! Mine would do the exact same thing only one of them would shred the "snow" and hide pieces of it everywhere.

You have such a wonderful variety. I think I could look at this village for hours and not see it all. I want to live there! : )

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. This village is a link to my past with my husband of 38years who I lost in 2003 to cancer. We always had a massive train layout at Christmas with most of these houses as part of that. He did all the train stuff and I did all the landscaping and village. I have since remarried and bless his heart my husband encourages me to carry on the tradition. My children have the trains and carry on their daddys love for trains and I have my village - it is the best of both worlds....Peace and Merry Christmas to all of you.....

Lynne, I love your village and think it's just wonderful that you are displaying it once again. And your new husband sounds like a wonderful person to encourage you to do so. How nice for you and your children.

Village?....Did you needing a bldg permit?--It's bigger than some suburbs. LOL
Great arrangements and variety, I applaud all your effort & hard work!

PS - I've learned this Christmas that villages are just merely playthings for cats and they get rebuilt every morning! :)

It looks so real until you get to the huge visitors, who bring you back to reality and you know this is truly a Christmas village and not a real city, but you did a fabulous job and it does look very authentic. Congratulations on a beautiful village and thank you for the tour.
