Please walk me through Audacity!

I would like to use this program for downloading music, and it says that for $10/month I can get all the downloads I want. I have read all of the instructions but still can't figure out how to download!

Can anyone guide me with baby-steps through this? Thanks!

I've been using Audacity for years and I've never heard of it downloading anything or charging for anything. If you play a song you can record it with Audacity. It records and edits sound files. I may be missing something but I don't know where. Where are you seeing this information about downloading?

I am confused too because Audacity is an open source project and it is free.

Thanks gardenerme and jenn :-) Yes, Vista is a really great climate, very temperate, and for the most part we just miss the the marine layer since we're up at about 900 ft. elevation (up in the hills). And yes, the cherries will most certainly produce! They are fairly new low-chill varieties from Dave Wilson Nursery that were specifically developed for our area. If you search the Fruit & Orchard Forum, I think there's a thread that provides a report on them from the coastal S. California area that was a "two thumb's up". They are Minnie Royal and Royal Lee. They cross pollinate each other. I'm really excited about them, actually, and they are VERY happy in my climate. Pretty pleased! Thank you all for your wonderful comments. This village is a link to my past with my husband of 38years who I lost in 2003 to cancer. We always had a massive train layout at Christmas with most of these houses as part of that. He did all the train stuff and I did all the landscaping and village. I have since remarried and bless his heart my husband encourages me to carry on the tradition. My children have the trains and carry on their daddys love for trains and I have my village - it is the best of both worlds....Peace and Merry Christmas to all of you..... Lynne

wow - good question - and great thread. Very interesting to find out how everyone works. shades - wow - that was a great write-up! I loved what you said - "I pull out everything trashing the whole area right off." LOL - I totally know what you mean - I do the same thing! I start by pulling from my stash of dishes - I usually start with a patterned plate and then choose solid colors to coordinate with it - this is the time that I love that I've collected soooooo much stuff - cause it makes it easier to find all the solid colors I need to go with the patterned pieces I've chosen. I usually lay out a few of each selected color/pattern along with some glass globs and look at all the combinations together. Usually let it sit for a couple of days - keep looking at it and make sure it all "works". Sometimes I place the pieces randomly, but more often I draw some kind of a pattern on the object. It practically always gets revised in one way or another before I'm done, but it does give me something to start with. I think I start thinking about the grout color as I'm working on it, and by the time I'm finished placing all the tesserae I've pretty much decided.

Nothing wrong letting someone see your house under construction for as long as the homeowner doesn't mind and gave permission, the contractor says it's ok to see it because it is safe to do a supervised walkthrough (he knows best when its safe and when isn't). People who enter any private property under construction on their own without permission lack common sense, especially when some bring kids with them and let them run around without supervision while they walking around... They have no clue whats going on there and you hear lots of horror stories when people get hurt or worst wondering around construction sites. Here is a perfect example, a while back someone went to look at the townhouse they wanted to purchase, it was almost completed. The day before they installed a counter on the raised bar counter, and it wasn't finished the support brackets weren't installed. The couple entered the house to see it on their own without an appointment, the husband leaned on the bar counter, the granite flipped and slid down crushing his toes and few of them had to be severed. Even when you go to someone house, how many times someone told you "watch your head there is a low ceiling there" or "watch your step for one reason or another" etc. Without knowing some will take a nose dive or bang their head. You cannot trespass private property without asking permission or any construction site without supervision. Period.

I use it to make ringtones for my phones and as far as I know it's not a downloading program you pay for. Mary

Bob, I can't even find how to play much less download songs! I downloaded the program and when I open it from my desktop it is a complicated looking thing that looks like a soundboard with lots of options.

As for the $10, I can't find that now. It was there before I downloaded it, it never asked for payment, but it downloaded this screen that I can't figure out.

Raven, I read all those links, but none say that I can download music. Is Audacity maybe not what I am looking for? I want a program that I can legally pay a price to download as many songs as I want. I thought that Audacity was what I needed, but maybe not.

Audicity doenst download music. It records music you might hear on your pc or music that you download if you want to duplicate it so you can edit it or save in another format.

Plays the music file that you load into it but its really not meant to be a music player. Its a sound file editor that records too.

Might want to look at this site link for downloading music mostly for free ....

use its search function, right click the download link.. always scan for virus from sites like this, never know who uploaded what...

Well if you want to make ringtones with it it's very easy and I have a simple step by step tutorial I made myself on how to do it. If I can make them anyone can. Could it be on the site or something your got an add for something elese to download music? Mary

If you want to download music for free, try Bearshare. I have been using it for quite a while snd really enjoy listening to music that I like.
