The "American System" of measurement is not really American, it's an obsolete British system of measurement. It was in use in pre-Revolutionary times because the colonies were part of the British Commonwealth. Thomas Jefferson and others tried to switch to the metric system after the Revolution and the struggle has continued to the present day. There's a federal law on the books which "encourages" the switch, but it was never mandated as it was in other countries. I live in the US, which is the only country in the industrialized world which hasn't finished converting to the metric system. The older British system is impractical in the modern world, particularly since so many things are now manufactured in the US with metric parts in order to make them marketable in other countries. So we need double sets of wrenches to fix things now. That's just stupid. I doubt if many American supporters of the old British system even know how it works. I never find anyone who knows the difference between dry measure and liquid measure...or how to measure things in rods and furlongs. There's a political movement in Britain against metrification, euro currency, and membership in the EU. I don't know much about that. I do know that resistance to metrification is economic suicide in our global world.

Arrowhead Alpinus mentioned something else about the Picea abies 'Millcreek Broom': PICEA GLAUCA 'MILLSTREAM BROOM'. To tell the truth I got this just for the name, presumably it goes back to Linc Foster. It.s an erect dwarf plant that is a pincushion of stiff needled fox tailed shoots each topped by a prominent bud giving the general impression of a dwarf Picea abies.

Once your in the recovery console from pressing "R' All you need to do is fix the master boot record "FIXMBR" as shown below... "Now at the prompt, type in fixmbr. Your damaged MBR will now be replaced with a new master boot record and your computer should now be able to boot properly. Yup! Just did it yesterday with Quicken on a continuing CD-R. That's why a while back if you recall my Roxio EZ-CD Creator corrupted and I asked for information on the then current version. I liked the ability. Also, remember we are talking data/photos here not music. In music the closing action makes a difference if it is to be a generic replay for most anywhere or on the computer of creation. (I think I got that right.) Disclaimer: I have yet to try it on a DVD-R (minus). I guess I should to see if the privilege is the same. DA
