system 32 error messages on reboot

I've been having problems with my computer, numerous pop-ups and Firefox loading 2 connections at the same time. I have a HP Pavilion 061 desktop, Version 2002 Service Pack 3, AMDAthlon XP, 2.2 GHz, 448 MB of RAM, F-Secure internet protection. A friend suggested I download SUPERAntispyware. Since downloading and scanning the computer, if I have to reboot I get 2 errors. One popup reads "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\fegenope.dll and the other is C:\WINDOWS\system32\agjpkuyj.dll

Can someone tell me what these error messages are? What do I do to correct the problem? If I click "OK", the computer appears to be operating properly and another pop appears "The system has recovered from a serious error", send report or don't send. I searched on the internet and it appears those 2 messages are due to a trojan virus. I assume the antispyware disinfected the virus, but the messages still appear on reboot. Please advise as to what I should do.

I think the first one is part of Vundo. MalwareBytes should get rid of it.

Download it and run it. Take the actions it recommends. It will probably require a reboot to finish deleting everything.

I think that what happened is that some malware didn't get completely removed, so there are parts of some infections trying to start other parts. I'm pretty sure that Malwarebytes can completely remove the infection you've got.

That's Vundo alright always recognized buy those 8 random letter files----> agjpkuyj.dll, & fegenope.dll,

Follow bpgreen advice and let us know..

Vundos not a serious infection and in most cases is easily removed and it does cause pop ups.

Running out of date Java is one of the ways
this infection gets in...

Removing out of date java versions from the add/remove programs should be done only keeping the most current version----> Java Runtime Environment 6 update 11 I think is the most current version.

In firefox if you click tools at the top then add/ons you will see a list of add/ons installed one of those apparently is causing a problem if your not using any add/ons then uninstall them you will see the uninstall option there. I just want to make sure your not running fiefox in safe mode all the time.

Do you have Ccleaner installed? If so start it then click the 'Registry' button on the left side. Do not alter any settings, click 'Scan for issues'. The scan may find a few or more likely a few hundred entries, do not fear these are all obsolete or left over entries. Once the scan is complete you should click 'Fix selected issues' or something similar. Back up the registry when prompted and click to remove the items show. Close program, hopefully the issue will be resolved Note to lurkers, do not play in here unless you fully understand the implications. A wrong move and you will possibly have monumental problems. Under normal circumstances any obsolete entry in the registry is simply ignored by the computer. In not2bright's case this is a move to stop the aggravation at startup.

I'm not a big believer in "Hibernation" or "sleep" modes...More often than enough are the cause of problems down the road..only takes a few secs to shut it down normally..... Try this fix I found by googling your error message: just do ctr-alt-del and go to prossesses then find the task : neftxupdate.exe and disable it....there is another fix if you happen to be using Avira Anti Virus End the task

I had same error yesterday on a computer I was remoted into. I forget the program install it occurred on ..... I uninstalled/reinstalled updated versions of several programs on a xpsp2 computer. anyhow.. either an update to .net framework at microsoft... or maybe simply running her Internet Explorer for the first time ever was the fix. (her browser of choice, firefox 3.0 was one of the things I had uninstalled) Can't say for sure one of those is your fix.. but, I might try updating .NET .

Thanks bpgreen and zep516! That worked. I also removed an older version of java and kept the current Enviroment 6 update 11.
