GW screen

My monitor screen is only half way on GW. 1/2 of my screen is blank. I think it started yesterday when I deleted the cookies (long story)
Looks like things below this box uses the whole screen but above it is 1/2 screen.
As far as I can tell this is the only place like that.
Thanks for any help.

It's not clear if you are talking about a monitor problem or a web site problem. Can you post a screen shot of what you are referring to? I question whether this has anything to do with cookies.

OK here is a print screen..I hope U can see what I am talking about.
I doubt it has anything with cookies too..How can I fix it? I doubt others is like it.

When I was a kid[many years ago]I used to make mudpies. Loved to play in the dirt,climb rocks,ride wild horses.Was sort of a tomboy,no girls in my neighborhood. In jr. highschool they used to call me witch.Don't know why. Now it seems I'm doing a second childhood, playing in the mud.I like these results much better.My favorite project is, like sarasaid,the one I'm currently working. This one is a water feature.It is a sphere[two bowls,mortared together.with a cut out].Mounted on a pedestal cast from the same bowl mold.The pedestal has 4 semicircles cut out so it has legs, these legs have been fortilied to provide the strength to support the sphere. It will be painted black inside,hold water,with glass 'rocks' at the bottom and a floating candle in it. I have great hopes for it. Don't know if I should paint the outside or not. I'm still trying to learn my son's camera so I can't post pictures, maybe one day I can.

pesky1- I took down the holiday mantle today and am also fiddling with the the 2011 1.0 version of same. Right now I am taking a break, as it's not coming together like I want. So, thought I'd take a crack at making yours a disaster too (kidding, kidding, I am really trying to help). OK, I love the vintage wall art, but I think it fights with the wood color and it's a little too delicate. I love the platter up there, but I would not center it, I'd put it off to one side and prop it up on the mantel, not hang it on the wall. Then I would use black and silver pieces, mercury glass, your fleur de lis collection and maybe the jar with the floats. I would limit it to shiny stuff for the winter (well, we're in NNY, and get a real winter, so I like to keep it festive and sparkly if I can, YMMV) and use the stuff that reflects light. I would intersperse a few candles so that when they're lit, the shiny surfaces glow. Vary the heights of stuff, and don't create a real "center", just make it look as if you dashed it off (when you really spent 3 hours on it, ask me how I know this, cough, cough) with varying heights and pieces. If you have an odd number of F de L pieces, use 3 or 5 of them grouped, with the largest ones in the center, then switch to something shiny, and vary the size. What about the vintage wall art on the right side of your FP, up vertical? Or trailing near the mantle somehow? It's a lovely piece and I see why you want to use it, I'm afraid it will be "lost" with all of the chunky and shiny objects in your pics. Glad to see you buddha out in the open (wink). sandyponder

Once when I was replying to one of plllog's posts, I tried to check the correct spelling by copying the name to Microsoft Publisher. Unfortunately, many things that are copied and pasted from the forums transfer as code, so it didn't help. Now I know; hope I remember! I'm still going by the same name, but didn't begin posting in the KT forums portion of GW until after the Houzz transfer anyway. A gyrfalcon is a bird, but I have long gone by simply Gyr too, so split the word out as a first and last name format long ago in previous forums. Many people type Gry instead of Gyr, but I am used to it and it doesn't bother me. My hair is turning gray IRL anyway. ;-)

That's identical to how this page looks to me, too. It's the GW "New Look", and is the same on all the other GW forums I've visited...

Sorry, I guess I should have read more post. I see some GREAT improvements but this isn't one of them. After being here for many years who ever is in charge now is sure good. Spike sent me to Disney World a few times. I was here a lot more when I had a garden..now in a small apt I only have 2 plants in my window..

If you would like to see that area utilized just turn off your ad blocking. Most of the ads are coded to go in that currently blank right area.

Also, in SF's screen shot there is a hint of a rectangle in the clouds below the browser toolbar and above the Garden Web banner. That's a blocked ad too.

I was in shock when I first saw it and wondered what was going on. I like it now, very clean looking

Thank you DA, I haven't seen an ad in so long I forgot what took up that space. Duh!!!!

Now that I know why it is blank I understand & It looks pretty good..sure better than ads. Sorry I complained & I do appreciate it.

Your screenshot looks about like mine on my netbook.

Because of the way they have the center area a fixed width rather than a percentage, it can look a lot more barren on a 1920 px width screen. Even allowing ads would leave lots of wasted space.

I'd rather have the empty space than ads. My luck the ads would be animated & they drive me up the wall :-D
