A Beautiful Present..From A Beautiful Holiday Friend

So there I was, lying on the couch feeling like a 'limp rag',(not feeling too well. DH comes in from getting the mail, and hands over a small package addressed to me...

Inside is a Christmas Card, along with another lovely card, with this Beautiful Pewter Ornament attached to it... This wonderful surprise, not only perked me up, but brought a big smile to my day...

because, it came from my 'Dear Friend Betty' !!

In your card Betty, you said this probably would arrive after Christmas and I'd enjoy it on my tree next year....

...NOT!!

Girl, that wouldn't stop me from enjoying it NOW...uh uh

Check out how 'at home' it looks all snuggled in on my tree!! I love it...

Thank You...Thank You...This meant so much,

and it will always remind me of you, and all our 'Happy Times' here on Holiday.

My Mom and our family came to Georgia for the first Christmas and we ate from the garden for our holiday meal - purple yard long beans that were frozen, butternut squash pie for dessert, fresh tatsoi as the greens, delicious homegrown garlic and herbs for the stuffing. Everyone was mighty pleased. When my sister and her family drove up to the house the boys thought it was "cool" that there was no grass and a rosemary topiary in the big herb planter in the center of the garden. That put a big smile on my face. Santa brought some garden goodies: a big square shaped tarp van liner so that you can cleanly load manures and mulches into your vehicle and Joy Larkcom's Oriental Vegetables book. My mom even found me a "good gardening" shirt. Something good enough to work in and show people around in at the same time! Happy Holidays and wishing you all a green New Year! GGG

heya ya'll, I am pooped, tired, sleepy worn out. lol. I went shopping today, remind me to stay AWAY from malls and stores until Christmas is over!!! I went with my " saurrogate" mom sheesh I still don't understand how some people just LOVE to shop! The way I shop is I write a list, go in get whats on my list and check out! If I wan't exercise I ride my bike or take the kiddos to the doggie park or just go to the country and walk. FORGET SHOPPING for this girl! Becki Dave is in our prayers that he has a safe trip. I know it worries you til he walks in. I am sooo sorry that some of ya'll or ya'lls loved ones had a rotten childhood. Its sad that parents take their frustrations out on their kiddos. Carol, I don't blame your DH one bit for not liking her, he may love her deep down because she is his mother but he doesn't have to like her. Fishy, sweetie you don't have to go out of your way at all for me. I am very easy cause I love everything that is sent with a hug and a smile. WHOOHOOO I send to Sandy!!!! Jane, I couldn't be happier that you truly appreciate what I sent you. When I ask and you answered without hesitation, I knew I made the right decision, by asking. The little ornament seemed the perfect finish for this gift. I do believe in following my heart and they look at home on your shelf. All snuggled in amongst your beautiful dishes. I will never regret sending them to you. You are a sweetheart yourself. Party Music the reason I gave those to Jane is because I couldn't figure out what they were used for.LOL Thanks for the sweet comments. I think they look great on Jane's shelf. Kathleen, I'm truly sorry I didn't know or remember you had the same dishes but it doesn't mean I won't find something for you too. If I didn't work and had more time here, I would be sending all of you something, I'm sure. I wanted to send all of you an ornament last Christmas but had to go to Vegas so didn't have time. OA, glad you think they go well with Jane's dishes. I grew up with the nickname Punky and it never left me. DH just ask if he could shorten it to Punk when we got married, so we did. The last name is Kerr so I'm Punk Kerr. It's been a fun name through the years. Been called Punky Brewster by several. Thanks for asking. Some have a hard time saying Punk but with being 54 and not going by my given name of Dora except with the IRS, it's just me. Luvs, you know me pretty well, don't you? I love to give more than anything. Doesn't mean I don't like to receive but giving when you know it's appreciated just warms the heart. I hear you. The DIY scene is no picnic. It's about planning, sweat, and dealing with the unforseen "things" that invariably pop up. We each worked 2 jobs for several years and worked to "build our estate" in our free time. We'd bust our asses to get all the prep. work done so that we could spend our vacation getting the most inconvenient projects finished. It wasn't easy, and we squabbled with each other, too. You will learn a lot in the "doing"; a lot about how to plan, how to execute a plan, and a lot about each other. But from my own perspective it was time well spent. And there were several very meaningful holidays involved. Keep your noses to the grindstone and keep your eyes on the final goal. Our best discovery was that the most effective tools in the arsenal were good senses of humor. Know what? we're still using certain key phrases coined under the most adverse conditions and we're still laughing about them, nearly 17 yrs. later. "The "frosting" on the cake of your effort is seeing the finished product in situ. For us it was a beautiful woodstove atop a raised hearth and in front of a finished interior chimney (that had been cinderblock for 12 years). Or watching beautiful gardens arise from gravel and backfill. Or buying the perfect screen door for the main entry. It's worth every minute of your time. Trust me on this count.

I'm so glad you like it. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well and hope you are better soon.

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a way to thank you for sending those beautiful pumpkin soup bowls to me. I'm not talented enough to make anything and was getting frustrated. When I was shopping just before Christmas and spotted this I thought of you because it fits you perfectly.

Thank YOU for being the sweet person you are. Now, GET WELL!

Oh my...Thank YOU ladies for all the warm Get Well Wishes!

I'm doing better...still fighting this 'bug'. Hopefully once the holidays are over, I will concentrate on getting some proper rest and getting rid of it completely.
I think we've ALL had our share of - this and that - with colds and such...so I'm just one of the crowd.

Anyway...
Betty, Again, I want to tell you what a wonderful surpise to receive this ornament, you have no idea.
You know you didn't have to 'repay' me for the bowls...I was only too happy for you to have them. That brought 'me' joy, cause I knew you wanted them so much...How could I not! lol
Don't you think my new ornament looks great?
It's very happy in it's new home..making friends with all the other ornaments!!! lol
