Yes, plumorchard, I did post that the default mode for the Electrolux is micro mode. If you just enter a time, and push start it microwaves. To use as an oven, you have bake, roast, grill, convection and preheat buttons, sorry no "Broil" button as Antss pointed out, while the oven does have a top heating element the element is above a stainless steel cover which has many slots/holes to allow the heat to reach whatever is being cooked, but would probably not allow enough heat thru to allow for good broiling--so we "Chalk one up here for the miele as I guess it broils? Toasts, meats whatever do get a nice color to them thou from the above burner. The Electrolux also has side burner/burners as well as the burner for the convection fan, in lieu of the bottom burner that the Miele uses. Max temp for the Electrolux is 450F. You have 2 speed cook options one button is "Basic Cook", You press that and each time it selects different things you may be speed cooking-----Meats, Poultry, Fish, Casseroles, Pies, desserts---etc. The other speed cook option is "Recipes" where it has 134 built in. You also have different buttons for microwave (If you want to use them)--You dont have too. The buttons are Reheat, Popcorn, Cook and defrost. In defrost it even tells you to "break up the meat" turn it over, etc etc. The display is blacked out, except for a small white digital clock, until you put your hand or finger up to the wavetouch panel. Then all the buttons light up in blue, until you enter a time, or select any other button, Then Start lights up Green and Cancel lites up in Red. The display goes blank after about a minute if you don't enter anything. Again as Mojavean mentioned, this is a 240 volt appliance, which any speed oven would have to be to be a "serious Oven". That potatoe race sounds like fun, Mojavean, The Vikings versus the Germans!!!!! The race is on, just let me know when and we should try to do about the same size tater---Ya Think?? I have had the Miele Speed oven and 30 inch Master Chef for about 10 months. Love the Speed Oven and have had the temperature problem with the Master Chef. It took two visits from the repair folks and replacement of a $500 mother board (covered by the warranty), but the Master Chef oven seems to be working well now. Actual oven temperature is now spot on to the setting (before it was 30-50 degree low). While the oven was clearly defective, I do note that there is a learning process to using the Miele. Coming from a gas oven with bake and broil as the only options, it took me a while to realize and learn that "bake" on the Miele only really works for 375 and lower applications and the "surround" setting is used for higher temperatures. If looks are important, I also note that the two ovens are beautiful together.

I just measure mine, for ya. Width 16 inches Depth 13 inches Height 9 inches. So a 9" x 13" baking sheet would fit. Be aware that the Elux Speed oven, unlike the Miele does use a turntable, so I removed the turntable when I took the height measurements---The turntable sticks up about an inch, but the platform it sits on is recessed about half an inch---this leaves you about 8.5 inches vertical clearance when the turntable is in. For pure baking or convection baking, grilling, and roasting, you would not need the turntable, but for Speed Cooking and microwaving, You Would need the turntable. Speed Cooking is a mix of convection and microwaving, and saves a lot of time as has been mentioned in many posts here. Potato takes 14 minutes instead of 45-60 minutes. The Miele broils (alto none brag about its broiling abilities,(so far anyway). The Elux does not broil as the upper heater is covered by a slotted cover. Other than that, the Miele and the Elux are pretty similar with perhaps the Elux controls being a bit more "Intuitive" except you have to know a tater is not poulty, fish,beef or a desert---Elux put it under "Casseroles"! Microwaving is extremely simple, enter the time and hit start. HTH's Good luck with your pending purchases!!! Gary

UPDATE!!! As outlined above, our Electrolux Pro High Speed oven failed after less than 2 ý years of use. The wave guide was burnt and the oven was deemed unrepairable. After contacting Electrolux, the best they would offer (even after assuring them I would file a small claims suit to recover the full amount) was 40 percent of the purchase price - around 800.00. This was not satisfactory to us and was a great disappointment. As a last resort, I filed a complaint with the BBB. Electrolux responded with a reiteration of their offer previously made of 40%. The BBB closed their complaint noting this was an "unsatisfactory" resolution. Within a week or two I was contacted by Electrolux offering to replace the item with the lower trim level Designer series. This would not work for us as we have a pro level oven below the speed oven and the items would not match in our new house/kitchen. After explaining to them this issue (and waiting for my original contact person to come back from Thanksgiving vacation), I contacted the person giving me this offer at the beginning of this week. She went to her boss, who authorized a Visa card for 1999.00 to be issued to us upon receipt of a letter confirming their offer along with the model number sticker. Apparently the pro icon speed oven trim level has been discontinued, at least according to Electrolux and AJ Madison website (where I purchased it originally). I was able to locate it in stock at Sears and it should be (fingers crossed) delivered in January (hoping it is truly in stock because Electrolux says their stock is low to zero). I purchased it at Sears and although I have to pay taxes on it (unlike at AJ Madison) it is worth it to me assuming it arrives! I was worried about calling AJ Madison and going that route again as that is where the defective oven came from in the first place (almost certainly not their fault but still). So SUCCESS!!! And hats off to Electrolux for standing by their product. Unfortunately, it took a lot of wrangling but the system appears to work and no lawsuit was necessary. If all goes well, I will post an update on Twitter and Facebook where I originally posted my complaint. As an aside, this oven now offers a 3 year warranty rather than the 1 year my original oven had, as long as you register it with Electrolux within 60 days of purchase. Also, I will investigate an extended warranty plan through Electrolux in case the magnetron fails again (we went through 2 and needed a 3rd). I did purchase it with my American Express which supposedly will extend the 3 year warranty to 5 years.
